Secret Love One Cruel Lie for Revenge novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Her Only Mistake Was Being Your Daughter

Thinking about how tightly I had clung to him that day, crying into his chest before I left, my father was consumed with regret. He kept replaying that moment in his mind, hating himself for not realizing something was wrong. If he had looked closer, if he had asked one more question, maybe everything would have been different. The guilt hollowed him out until there was barely anything left inside.

Across from him, Dominic finally snapped. He lunged forward and punched my father, his teeth clenched so hard his voice came out distorted. “What did your daughter do wrong?” he spat. “Her only mistake was being born as your daughter!”

“Thomas, you forced Brooke overseas back then,” Dominic went on, eyes blazing. “If you hadn’t torn us apart, we wouldn’t have been separated for all those years.” His laughter was bitter and sharp. “You made the mess. Your daughter paying for it is only fair.”

“Bullshit.”

My father swung back without hesitation. “Dominic, you ungrateful brat,” he growled, grief and fury mixing in his voice. “Back then you had nothing – no money, no future. What exactly could you have given Brooke besides empty promises?”

“She betrayed you long before any of this,” my father continued, shaking but resolute. “She hooked up with some rich kid and planned to leave you behind. I paid her to keep quiet so your pride wouldn’t be crushed.” His eyes burned red. “I did that as your elder, protecting what little dignity you had. And this is how you repay me?”

The truth hit like a blade tearing through skin.

Dominic went rigid, staring at my father as if his world had cracked open. His expression fractured piece by piece, disbelief fighting against everything he had built his hatred upon. a long moment, he looked less like a man and more like something broken beyond repair.

My father’s strength drained all at once. He dropped to his knees, sobbing as though something inside him had finally given way. “It’s all my fault,” he choked. “I got Kristen killed.

It’s all on me.”

“No,” Dominic muttered, shaking his head violently. “You’re lying.” His voice wavered for the first time. “Brooke told me you forced her to go abroad because you were jealous of us.”

My father pulled out his phone with trembling hands and opened an old surveillance recording. “I kept this for years,” he said hoarsely. “If she had truly wanted to make things right with you, I would’ve let it rot on my hard drive forever.”

“But she twisted everything onto me,” he added bitterly. “If that’s how she wants to play, then don’t blame me for exposing the truth.”

In the video, my father played the peacemaker. He spoke calmly, asking Brooke, for the sake of everything they had once shared, to give Dominic another chance. His tone was measured, almost gentle, as if he were trying to salvage something already cracked beyond repair.

Brooke, however, stood with her arms folded, chin lifted like a queen delivering judgment. She said Dominic wasn’t good enough for her, that staying with him would only waste her youth. Without the slightest hesitation, she rejected my father’s request.

After confirming that she had truly made up her mind, my father slowly took out a check for ten million dollars. He didn’t try to change her decision anymore; he only asked one thing in

that she not tell Dominic the truth. He begged her to let him walk away with his pride intact.
