Chapter 52
If Eliza remembered correctly, Calvin had been on a business trip for the past few days and should have been returning on today’s flight.
She didn’t go out of her way to check on his whereabouts, though.
It was Sadie who had been asking her about Calvin’s preferences and important details while he was on a trip–like which flight he preferred, which hotel he stayed at, his dietary preferences, and whether he liked to return the same day or the following day.
After all, no one knew Calvin’s likes and dislikes better than Eliza.
When Sadie called her for help, she was almost in tears on the other end of the line, complaining about how she must have done something terrible in her past life to be stuck as Calvin’s temporary secretary, arranging his schedules…
Eliza had asked her if Calvin had hired another personal secretary after she left.
Sadie said no. Human Resources had suggested it a few times, but Calvin had rejected it each time.
Sadie also mentioned that people were starting to talk privately, sensing that Calvin might be deliberately keeping the position open.
As for who it was for, everyone knew exactly who he had in mind.
Even Sadie had secretly asked Eliza if she was considering returning to Everest.
Eliza made it clear to her, “That’s never going to happen.”
It seemed like Calvin, the moment he landed back in Washington, had gone straight to join Medea ‘s family dinner!
So considerate.
Of course, Calvin had always been very attentive to Medea ‘s needs.
These were things Eliza had never dared to imagine before.
She still remembered when Ottilie found out she was dating Calvin and had gently requested to meet him.
Eliza had made up excuse after excuse.
Eventually, she couldn’t hide it anymore and had to ask Calvin.
His reaction was clear as day, Eliza remembered it well.
His face had gone cold, his brows furrowed.
The impatience in his eyes was evident, and his tone was the sharpest it had over heen.
“What’s there to see?”
Wasn’t the process of falling in love supposed to be mutual affection and then meeting each other’s parents?
Eliza had been heartbroken for quite a while after that, and her attitude toward Calvin became lukewarm.
Later, Calvin did eventually meet Ottilie, but that only happened after a long time.
Yet Medea had been back for less than two months, and Calvin had already been running around arranging medical experts for her mother’s surgery and even sending premium ginseng to help her recover.

Chapter 52
The level of attention he gave was obvious.
It was incomparable.
Enzo had been waiting for Eliza’s response, and he was a very persistent person.
Eliza had noticed that from their previous interactions.
Everest had pulled out of the project a while ago, and Enzo could easily approach new investors.
Moreover, Enzo was a highly skilled technical expert, so there were likely many people wanting to invest in him.
Eliza had always known that.
That was why she had put so much effort into the project, offering her utmost sincerity, which eventually won Enzo over.
Unfortunately, they still didn’t manage to work together in the end.
Eliza didn’t hide anything and told Enzo the truth, leaving out nothing.
She did this to let him know that he still had better options.
But Enzo made it clear, “I only want to work with you.”
“You can either work with your company or work with me on your own project. Either way, I’m choosing you.”
He even said, “I’m actually glad the cooperation with Everest fell through. If we had signed a contract and then found out you had resigned from Everest, that would have been a real waste.”
Eliza was deeply touched.
But while feeling moved, she didn’t forget to emphasize the challenges they were facing.
The first problem was definitely the issue of funding.
There wasn’t enough initial capital, and if they tried to operate the project, the money would run out in no time.
If the funding chain broke, the project could easily fail…
That would be a real apology to Enzo for all the effort he had put into the project so far.
So Eliza proposed that they try to find new investors as quickly as possible.
They could co develop and incubate the project together.
Although this would reduce the initial investment, it would also mean giving up some data rights.
“I don’t understand business operations, but I trust your abilities, President Eliza. We’ll divide the work–find the investors, and I’ll handle the tech
side.”
“President Eliza?”
The way he said that felt… oddly pleasant.
All the shadows that had been clouding Eliza’s mind for days finally lifted.
“Then let’s do this. I look forward to working together.” Eliza said sincerely as she shook Enzo’s hand.

Chapter 52
“Looking forward to it.”
Just as Eliza was in high spirits, someone came along to spoil her mood.
It was none other than Medea.
She somehow noticed Eliza and specifically came over to greet her, “Eliza, it really is you! I thought I had seen wrong just now.”
Although she was speaking to Eliza, her eyes were deliberately scanning Enzo, clearly trying to guess the nature of their relationship.
After all, Enzo was about the same age as Eliza, and they were eating alone, which could easily raise suspicions.
Eliza wasn’t particularly interested in talking to Medea, so her expression was a bit distant.
Enzo, seeing Eliza didn’t want to engage with Medea, chose not to respond either.
Their silence and indifference made Medea feel awkward.
