In the past, when Eliza had worked as Calvin’s secretary, she had the chance to attend such business dinners.

When Eliza left Legacy, it had started raining, and though it wasn’t heavy, it was cold.

Washington winters were always like this–rain brought coldness that seeped into your bones.

Belle messaged her, saying it had started snowing in B City, the first snowfall of the year, and asked if she wanted to go watch the snow.

Both of them grew up in Washington and rarely saw snow, so they had an inexplicably love for it.

Eliza was tempted, but in the end, she replied, “Baby, next time. I have a project I need to finalize, and if I go, I won’t be able to enjoy it.”

Belle, unable to help her workaholic tendencies, just advised, “Don’t overdo it, take care of yourself.”

“I know.”

“Don’t just know, do it.”

The concern from a friend helped dispel the chill brought by the rain.

Just as Eliza was about to leave Legacy, Thea’s call came through.

She was in a hurry, “Eliza, my brother’s sick. Please come to the hospital! He refuses to stay in the hospital, and I can’t get him to listen!”

Eliza immediately took a cab to the hospital. When she saw Enzo, he was arguing with the doctor, asking if he could avoid hospitalization, saying he had too much work left to do.

The doctor scolded him seriously, “With your condition, you’re still worrying about work? Don’t you value your life? Have you seen your test results? Your liver enzymes are almost 300! The normal range is 0 to 40!”

Thea, spotting Eliza, immediately rushed over, like she’d found her savior. “Eliza, please do something!”

“What happened?” Eliza asked, furrowing her brow.

“It’s nothing serious…”

Before Enzo could finish, Thea spilled the beans.

“Nothing serious? He’s been vomiting and had diarrhea, collapsed at the office. If his assistant hadn’t left something at the studio and returned to find him, who knows what could have happened!”

Thea was really angry and kept venting, ignoring the warning glares from Enzo.

“You glare all you want, but Eliza, please do something! He’s not taking care of himself! He’s working ten people’s worth of tasks, staying at the office all day, and his assistant said he hasn’t gone home for a week! He’s literally living at the company! Doesn’t he care about his life?!”

As she got emotional, Thea’s eyes welled up, and her voice choked, “What if something happens to him? What about my mom? What about me?”

When Enzo’s father passed away, Thea was still in elementary school, and her mother’s health had never been great.

The responsibility of the family fell entirely on Enzo, and he became the pillar of support for both his mother and sister.

That was why Thea reacted the way she did.

Eliza hugged Thea to comfort her. “It’s okay. I’ll keep an eye on him. Don’t worry.”

After calming Thea down, Eliza had the chance to get to the bottom of the situation.

“Thea said you’re doing ten people’s work. What’s going on?” Eliza’s face had turned serious, and she was giving him an imposing look.

“It’s not that exaggerated,” Enzo still tried to downplay it.

But Thea couldn’t hold back and continued, “What else could it be? To save money! To cut costs!”

Upon hearing this, Eliza felt a bit uncomfortable.

Though Thea hadn’t explained in detail, Eliza had a good idea of what was going on.

Enzo must have been trying to save money for her project, which hadn’t secured new investment yet. He worked himself to exhaustion, thinking that if he did more work, he could avoid hiring more staff.

Eliza’s face turned pale, Enzo, seeing her reaction, didn’t know what to say and truthfully explained.

“Engineer salaries have been really high lately. Even a new hire demands a six figure salary, which is too costly. Since we haven’t secured new investment for the project, I thought I could just take on more work.”

“That’s not ‘more work.‘ You’ve practically taken on all the technical positions!” Thea argued.

“Don’t say it like that.” Enzo didn’t want Eliza to feel burdened.

He had kept the situation at the studio a secret from her, but now that his overwork had caused his health to deteriorate, it had all been exposed.

Eliza could see through it.

She gave Enzo a stern look. “You need to take care of your health. Hire more people if necessary. You should focus on the technical side; I’ll handle the
