Seven Years a Fool One Day a Queen (Kristine and Colton) novel Chapter 62

Chapter 62

Everest had a wide range of technological industries under its belt, with the most successful one being its chip company.

Calvin had built Everest into the giant it was today through this chip project.

In comparison, small companies like Eliza’s, which couldn’t even meet the basic entry requirements, were a far cry from such large tech corporations like Everest. Naturally, Everest was a VIP at top industry summits like this one, and invitations for them were so commonplace that they were practically a given.

Eliza had thought about this, but subconsciously, she was reluctant to have any more contact or dealings with Calvin. That was why she hadn’t taken action yet.

It was Camille who had reminded her.

Business is business, and personal is personal. The two don’t need to be mixed.

The circle is small, and you’ll inevitably run into people. If you’re too hesitant, it’ll seem like you can’t let go.

.After chatting with Camille, Eliza finally decided to give Calvin a call.

Calvin answered faster than before, but Eliza thought he was probably just playing on his phone when he saw the call and picked it up casually.

President Young, is it convenient to talk?Eliza asked, her tone strictly professional.

What do you mean by convenient?Calvin replied, his voice tinged with a hint of sarcasm.

His voice sounded a bit off, distorted through the phone line. Maybe it was because she hadn’t heard it in a while, but it felt unfamiliar.

Well, for example, I’m not disturbing something important,Eliza continued.

Calvin let out a soft laugh, What if you are disturbing me?

I can wait until you’re done,Eliza replied smoothly.

He laughed again. But this time, his tone seemed more frustrated. When he spoke, his voice was gritted with irritation, I’m not busy. What is it?

Eliza got straight to the point, without any beating around the bush.

I have invitation, but Eliza, I won’t give it to you for free.

How could she have forgotten that this was Calvin, the capitalist with an agenda?

Eliza bit back her frustration and asked, What’s your condition then, President Young?

Calvin became casual again, Eliza, I want some cake.

Eliza frowned.

It was obvious. He wanted cake for Medea.

Didn’t Calvin hate sweets? Wasn’t it a bit excessive to buy cake late at night, especially when it could cause weight gain?

Irritated as she was, Eliza still agreed to his condition.

A cake for two invitations? She considered that a huge win.

As for the cake

It was everywhere. She could just grab one from a nearby store.

Anyway, since those two were in their loveydovey phase, they probably wouldn’t care about the quality of the cake.

Calvin sent her an addressit was at a hotel.

Typical of a couple in love, they truly had all the romance in the world.

When Eliza arrived and gave her name at the front desk, she was led to the presidential suite on the top floor.

It wasn’t the first time Eliza had been here. During the time she had helped Calvin decorate his house, he had stayed in this very presidential suite for half a year.

And, this hotel was one Eliza had personally selected for him.

He had high standards and many requirements, so Eliza had to scour the entire city to find a hotel that could meet his tastes.

Unknowingly, she was still being used as a stepping stone for others.

But it wasn’t the first time, so she was already used to it.

What bothered her more was imagining whether those two might feel uncomfortable while in bed together.

A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts.

Eliza stood aside, waiting.

It didn’t take long for Calvin to open the door. He appeared to have just gotten out of the shower, wearing only a bathrobe.

It was a deep Vneck, just loose enough to reveal hints of his welldefined abdominal muscles. His wet hair dripped down, softening the usually cold, hard features of his face.

When he saw the staff member, he quickly tightened his bathrobe and gestured to Eliza. Come in.

As the staff member left, she gave Eliza a curious look.

Inside, Eliza placed the cake on the table and immediately asked for the invitation.

Calvin took his time, opening the cake and picking up a small piece with his fingers to taste it.

He smiled mockingly, Bought it from a random bakery, right? Eliza, are you really trying to fool me?

Eliza wasn’t in the least bit nervous about being caught. She replied confidently, Of course not! I got it from the same bakery I always go to!

After all, he had never seriously tasted the cakes she made, so he probably wouldn’t remember.

And she was so certain in her response that Calvin didn’t question it further. He handed her the invitation as promised.

Eliza opened it eagerly, only to freeze when she saw the contents. There’s only one?

Calvin was lounging against the kitchen island, shaking his wet hair casually. His bathrobe was still open, just loosely hanging around him.

Eliza couldn’t help but glance at him a second time.

Well, it’s free, might as well take a look, right?

Calvin’s voice remained cold, but with a hint of mockery. The cake you brought only warrants one invitation. Do you understand?

Eliza was speechless.

She wanted to argue, but Calvin’s phone rang on the table.

It was a call from Medea.

He answered almost immediately, his tone warmer and full of affection, a smile playing on his lips. Just got out of the shower. I bought cake, do you want some? I’ll bring it to you.

Eliza quietly clenched her teeth, silently retreating from the scene, feeling as though she were intruding on their intimate moment.

As she stepped out, she encountered the staff member who had escorted her earlier.

The staff member gave her a surprised look.

Eliza smiled. Is it really that fast?

The staff member hesitated, clearly taken aback. Wellit’s a bit fast.

The next day, when Calvin left for work, it happened to be during the staff shift change.

The same staff member who had looked at Eliza curiously the night before was now giving her an equally strange look.
