Chapter 64
Gideon was still seething with anger.
But because Josh was nearby, giving him a warning look, he could only hold back. He continued to glare at Eliza, clearly upset.
It was funny how people worked.
Eliza simply responded to him with the same attitude he’d shown her, and now he was the one who was angry.
In an attempt to ease the tension, Medea deliberately shifted the topic. “Josh, this kumquat plant on your desk is quite unique. It softens the coldness of the office and adds a bit of warmth and a homey feeling.”
“And most importantly, the meaning of kumquats is great!” she added.
Gideon, ever the sycophant, immediately chimed in,
“Yeah, I was drawn to the kumquat plant as soon as I walked in. It’s so elegant.”
-Josh, nodding in agreement, said, “It’s nice, isn’t it?”
After both of them nodded, he casually added, “It was a gift from Eliza. I thought it was special, so I put it here.”
The office fell silent for nearly half a minute.
Medea, no longer interested in the plant, shifted directly to the topic of business.
“Josh, I came to ask you about the financing.”
Josh replied, “For matters like this, you can have the project manager and the head of the bank liaison handle it directly. No need for you to come all the way here.”
“I just thought we haven’t seen each other in a while. Wanted to meet up, maybe have a meal together,” Medea said, her tone casual.
She paused for a moment, casting a glance at Eliza, before continuing, “By the way, Calv will be coming soon. He was supposed to come with me, but something came up. He said he’ll come to pick me up once he’s done.”
Eliza flipped a page of the financial magazine in her hands, seemingly indifferent to what she was saying.
Medea assumed Eliza was pretending to be calm, but in truth, Eliza was genuinely unfazed.
She had heard everything, but it wasn’t surprising. It only answered the question she’d been wondering about earlier.
Calvin and Medea were still as inseparable as ever.
So clingy.
Josh glanced at the time and, realizing it was around mealtime, turned to Eliza,/Eliza, would you like to have dinner with us?”
Eliza closed the magazine and said, “Maybe another day. I have plans for tonight, and it’s getting late. I’ll leave now.”
She certainly didn’t want her appetite ruined.
Josh didn’t insist, “I’ll walk you out then.”
“No need, you’re busy. I’ll go on my own,” Eliza politely declined.

“Alright, we’ll catch up another time.”
As Eliza left, Gideon couldn’t help but mutter, “Josh, I think you should keep some distance from Eliza. That woman isn’t as simple as she seems!”
Josh didn’t even acknowledge him, focused on watering the kumquat plant with a spray bottle.
Gideon grew more agitated. “Josh! I’m talking to you! You should be careful around Eliza! She’s not innocent! Do you have any idea how she went out of her way to network with people for her pathetic project, even drinking with them? She’s obviously trying to use connections to climb up, so dirty!”
Before Gideon could finish, Josh raised the spray bottle and directed a couple of spritzes right at his mouth.
“Ugh, spit, spit…” Gideon quickly recoiled. “Josh, what the hell?”
Josh replied, “Just cleaning you up.”
“Alright, stop messing around,” Medea interjected, “Josh, I heard Unite and Horizon are considering collaborating on a tech project. Do you mind sharing any inside information?”
That was, in fact, the real reason Medea had come to Unite.
Josh paused for a moment, his gaze sharp as he shot a cold look at Gideon.
Gideon, feeling guilty, quickly averted his gaze.
“Rumors, don’t take them too seriously,” Josh said, his tone becoming casual again.
Medea understood his meaning and didn’t press further.
After all, it was still early, and she wasn’t in a rush.
Besides, with Gideon as her spy, she knew she’d get the important info sooner or later.
At that moment, Calvin called, likely having arrived downstairs.
Medea immediately addressed both of them, “Calv’s here. Let’s head downstairs.”
“You go ahead, I’ll just finish up here,” Josh replied.
Gideon was about to follow them out when Josh called him back, saying he needed his help with something.
Gideon was confused, wondering what he could help with.
Once Medea left, Josh scolded Gideon, “How many times have I told you? Don’t leak business secrets to outsiders! Don’t you remember?”
Gideon looked innocent. “But Medea isn’t an outsider! We all know each other well, we grow up together! She almost became part of the Kallis family! How can she be considered an outsider?”
“You’re thinking too much,” Josh replied coolly.
“What do you mean, thinking too much? You’ve been together for so many years. If you don’t break up soon, you’ll probably be having kids by now!” Gideon shot back.
“I’ve been with so many people, do you expect me to marry every single one of them?” Josh said flatly.
Gideon fell silent.
Meanwhile, outside, Medea, who had just left the office, ran into the secretary who was carrying boxes.
She stopped when she saw one of the boxes, her eyes narrowing.

“Wait a minute,” she called to the secretary.
She picked up a box that had not yet been opened and inspected it closely. When she confirmed that it was the gift she had given Josh during his appointment, her expression changed.
The secretary, not understanding what was going on, asked, “These are things that Josh doesn’t need. I was planning to take them to the storage room. Is there a problem?”
Medea put the box back in the carton and shook her head. “No problem, just my mistake.”
With that, she quickly left, but the smile on her face crumbled as soon as the elevator doors closed.
