Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Eliza quickly disappeared into the crowd, and not long after, Medea came downstairs, spotting Calvin waiting at the entrance.
It was clear that Calvin was somewhat agitated–his furrowed brow showed he was bothered by something.
Medea quickened her pace and called out to him, “Calv, have you been waiting long?”
“No I just got here not long ago.” Calvin’s irritation had vanished as soon as he faced her.
“Have you run into any familiar faces?”
Medea had deliberately asked this question. Since she and Eliza had come down one after the other, it was very likely the two would cross paths. That was why Medea had rushed downstairs.
Calvin replied indifferently, “No.”
“I thought you’d bump into Eliza. She just left Josh’s office too.”
-At these words, Calvin’s response remained calm, even somewhat indifferent. “I was just texting her, didn’t notice.”
Medea seemed pleased with his reaction and answer, a smile curling at her lips.
When Eliza returned to the studio, everyone was still working late.
Though the prototype had been completed, the product still needed a lot of training, so they had taken only one day off before returning to work.
To thank everyone, Eliza decided to treat the whole studio to dinner and told them the good news she had received from Unite. The restaurant was up
to them
When she got the details about the contract with Unite, Enzo told her where they would be dining–Western Paradise.
“Why here?” Eliza asked in surprise.
Enzo explained. “I think I’ve seen it in your Facebook Moments before, it looked good, so I remembered it. Is it not suitable? If it’s not, we can choose
somewhere else.”
Eliza quickly shook her head. “No, this restaurant is great. The environment is nice, the food is good, it’s perfect for everyone to relax. Let’s go.”
She was surprised that Enzo had remembered such a small detail from over a year ago when she had helped the restaurant owner promote their
opening
If she remembered correctly, it was when the restaurant had just opened, and she had shared it to support the owner. That was when Enzo had taken
note.
Some people really paid attention to the little things.
Unlike Calvin. Despite her repeatedly mentioning things, he never really paid attention, not even once.
And he had continuously stood her up.
The group arrived at Western Paradise.
As Eliza got out of the car, the people from Calvin’s group also got out.

Chapter 65
They saw her first, and Gideon’s frown deepened immediately.
Medea was as composed as always. She casually linked her arm with Calvin’s and smiled as she introduced the restaurant to Gideon.
“Calv brought me here a few times. It’s really nice, so I thought I’d bring you guys to try it.”
“You guys are really lacking in loyalty! You come to such a nice place and didn’t even invite me? How rude!” Gideon immediately protested.
Calvin mocked him, “Are you planning to be a third wheel?”
Medea smiled sweetly at his teasing and naturally leaned even closer to Calvin.
They looked perfect together, both of them incredibly attractive, and to the outside world, it was clear they were a couple deeply in love.
Eliza watched the entire scene and heard everything, but her response was surprisingly indifferent. There was no particular expression on her face.
Josh, seeing Eliza, greeted her first. “Are you here for dinner too?”
Eliza nodded. “Yes, I’m treating my company’s staff.”
Thinking of the upcoming collaboration with Unite, she then introduced Enzo to Josh, “Josh, this is our project’s core tech expert, Enzo.”
Then she turned to introduce Josh’s identity to Enzo, “Mr. Josh, General Manager of Unite Bank.”
“Hello,” they both shook hands.
At that moment, Medea spoke up, “I remember you from the restaurant before. You were with Eliza then, right?”
Upon hearing that, Eliza frowned.
Everyone else also overheard, and Calvin looked over at her.
Eliza didn’t pay attention to his expression, but she could feel his gaze on her, sharp and piercing.
Medea seemed unaware of Eliza’s change in expression and continued, “I thought you and Josh were seeing each other, since you were pretty close
back then.”
“Medea, you’re quite the imaginative one,” Eliza replied with a sharp tone.
Medea quickly explained, “I didn’t mean anything by it. I’m just curious. I’ve always believed there’s no such thing as pure friendship between men and women, so I thought a little too much. If you mind, I apologize.”
Medea ‘s words were cleverly crafted.
In just a few sentences, she implied that Eliza had been juggling two men in just two months, subtly casting doubt on her character.
Eliza wasn’t upset. In fact, she replied in a calm manner, “I’ve heard that how people view things is shaped by their own perception of the world.”
Medea ‘s smile faltered, and she subconsciously gripped Calvin’s arm tighter.
Only Gideon seemed confused. “What does that mean? I don’t get it.”
Josh lightly tapped his head. “Don’t ask.”
A smile played at the corner of his lips.
Clearly, he understood Eliza’s meaning.
A dirty mind sees everything as dirty.

Chapter 65
“Didn’t you just say you were hungry? Why are you still chatting? People with bad stomachs should focus on eating,”
Calvin interjected, skillfully changing the topic at just the right moment.
He subtly created a way for Medea to step away from the awkward situation.
Medea, her smile returning, said, “You’re right, I’m hungry. Let’s go inside.”
She and Calvin led the way, followed by Josh and Eliza.
Gideon snorted in frustration and quickly followed.
The door closed behind them, leaving the area empty.
Eliza instinctively rubbed her stomach, her brows furrowing in discomfort.
Her stomach pain had returned.
She had been doing better after taking some time to treat her condition, but recently, with all the project–related work, she hadn’t been eating properly or picking up her medication.
The pain started when Calvin showed concern for Medea earlier. It felt like a reflex, or perhaps it was just nausea.
Whatever the cause, it wasn’t comfortable.
Enzo noticed her pale complexion and asked with concern, “Are you okay? Do you want to switch to a different restaurant?”
Eliza shook her head. “I’m fine.”
Compared to some of the things from her past, this was nothing.
