Emily bit back the name that was on the tip of her tongue.

“Don’t waste your breath on her. Let’s go.” Chloe couldn’t stand it for another second. This time, she didn’t care what Bastienne thought; she just grabbed her and dragged her off.
Garrett’s expression turned serious. “Ms. Carter.”
Stella didn’t even bother to look at him.
Chloe shouted from the hallway, “Garrett, come on.”
Garrett let out a sigh and left.
He thought, ‘Chloe went too far. Guess I’ll have to bring this up with the boss.’
The office instantly went quiet.
Stella shot a glance at Darius, who was still lying there on the floor. “Ever since the Dorestan Medical Alliance started, you’re the first one who actually had the guts to use your position for your own benefit.”
Darius’s head snapped up, his face drenched in cold sweat and twisted with malice. The next second, he lunged at Stella, throwing a punch straight at her face.
He looked absolutely desperate.
Everything happened so fast, and no one saw it coming.
However, Stella, still sitting calmly, didn’t even flinch. Just as Darius was about to touch her, she rose to her feet with a cool, almost bored look, grabbed a wooden chair, and swung it hard at his head.
The chair shattered right over Darius’s head. Wood chips flew everywhere.
Darius didn’t even get a word out before his eyes rolled back and he fainted.
Everyone was shocked.
Stella looked down at Darius, nudged his leg with her foot, and scoffed, “Pathetic.”
The others thought, ‘Or maybe you’re just way too strong. Who even swings a chair at someone’s head?’
Emily was the only one unfazed; she’d seen Stella wreck a Monterra soldier before, after all.
Stella shot Creed a sideways glance. “As the head of this department, you’ve let things get out of hand. By the rules, you should be dragged back to headquarters for punishment.”
Creed broke out in a cold sweat and lowered his head, afraid to breathe while waiting for the verdict.
Unexpectedly, a faint laugh reached his ears. Stella said, “I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll let you go.”

Creed looked up sharply, his face showing pure relief. “Thanks, Ms. Carter.”

Stella didn’t bother with him anymore. She reached out and gave Emily’s work badge a quick tug. “Before I come back, I want this place spotless.”
“Sure.” The big shots from Jaffina, who never listened to anyone, all shouted in perfect unison, trembling as if pardoned.
Stella said, “Emily, let’s go.”
She was already heading out the door as she spoke.
Emily hesitated. “Wait, I’m not off work yet.”
Hearing that, Stella turned her head to look at the hospital higher-ups who were still frozen in the doorway.
They instantly said, “She can leave now.”
Stella turned back to Emily, raising an eyebrow.
Emily was left speechless.
An hour later, they arrived at the Red Ace Bar.
Emily couldn’t help but notice something was off when the burly security guards at the door looked like they’d just seen a ghost the moment they spotted Stella.
Stella took a step forward.
The guards stammered, “G-Good evening, ma’am. Uh, how’s your day?”
They were all trying to be polite.
Stella and Emily felt speechless.
Stella glanced at them and instantly recognized the guys Sebastian had beaten up last time. “Oh, it’s you.”
The guards flashed perfect smiles, looking timid.
Emily was surprised.
They went into the bar. Emily asked, “Where’s Chester?”
She thought, ‘Why does everything in this bar feel so weird?’
Stella, expressionless, knocked on the table. “Get out, Now.”
Chester Beatty, who’d ducked under the table the moment they walked in, slowly poked his head out.
Emily was confused.

Chester swallowed hard and gave a nervous wave. “Hi.”
Stella just stared, her face blank.
Emily remained silent.
Stella said, “Two cocktails. Keep them light, lots of ice.”

Chester peeked behind them, making sure the guy who’d turned the place into a war zone last time wasn’t anywhere in sight. Only then did he finally relax and start mixing their drinks.
Soon, two pink cocktails with ice were set down in front of them.
Chester even added two cute little flowers on top.
Stella and Emily found it hilarious.
Stella sat in silence for a while, lost in thought. She calmly picked up her glass, the ice clinking with a crisp sound. “What were you trying to say just now?”
Emily blinked. “Huh?”
Stella kept her gaze straight ahead. “You looked weird for a second back in the office, as if you wanted to say something, but you didn’t.”
She took a slow sip, finding it surprisingly pleasant.
Emily hadn’t expected Stella to be so observant. She thought Stella would have been completely focused on Bastienne and Chloe.
There was a brief silence. Emily said, “Bastienne.”
Then she added, “I think that woman looks a lot like Mr. Gray’s mom.”
After saying that, Emily watched Stella’s face, but the latter didn’t even blink; she just took another sip of her drink.
Emily’s eyes went wide. “You already knew, didn’t you?”
Stella was totally unfazed. “Nope.”
Emily asked, “Aren’t you surprised at all?”
Stella replied, “Everyone’s got parents. Sebastian didn’t just appear out of nowhere. Why would I be surprised he has a mom?”
Emily couldn’t help but be swayed by her words.
She paused and said, “But his mom died five years ago, didn’t she?”
That was the part that had totally shocked her at the time.
