Chapter 227

“Mine. All mine. Not a single one for him,” Sebastian said.

His brows were furrowed, his expression serious, as if he were negotiating a tens-of-billions business deal, not just a few chocolates.

Stella was speechless. Unfazed, she reached out and poked him.

Sebastian was speechless. His eyes went wide in shock.

In a split second, he deflated, going from a fierce tiger to a sickly little kitten.

He looked like he’d lost the will to live.

Without a word, Sebastian pulled the black blanket over his face.

Stella was speechless.

She tried to tug at the blanket, hoping to peek inside.

But the person underneath pressed down even harder.

‘No way. You’re not allowed to look, Sebastian thought.

And suddenly, a large, well-defined hand slipped out and placed something in her palm.

Stella looked down.

A perfectly wrapped chocolate rested quietly in her hand.

A muffled voice came from under the blanket. “For you.” Half of Sebastian’s face slowly peeked out from under the edge.

His

eyes were filled with hope.

Stella was speechless.

The chocolate had been hidden away for so long that it was a little melted. Stella carefully unwrapped it and let it melt on her tongue,

Her heart bloomed with warmth, as if spring itself had wrapped her in a gentle embrace.

Sebastian’s voice was low and teasing. “Is it sweet?”

He rolled onto his side, his fingers idly playing with her hair, running them through the silky strands scattered across the bed.

Stella smirked. “Want to try for yourself?”

Before he could answer, she leaned in so close that their breaths practically became one. Her hand slid up to the back of his neck, caressing him with a gentle touch.

Sebastian’s reaction was instant.

Right now, Stella was every bit the mischievous little minx, toying with him on purpose.

“Can I?” Sebastian’s voice was low, hoarse, and full of restraint.

Stella’s eyes lingered on his lips, saying nothing, but it felt like invisible threads were winding around the two of them, drawing them closer.

Someone was knocking on the door.

John called from outside, “Mr. Gray.”

Stella coolly put some space between them, then flopped back onto the pillow and turned her head with a

smirk.

Stella chuckled. “John’s looking for you.”

Stella didn’t even blink, just shut her eyes like she owned the place, then yanked the black blanket, still warm with Sebastian’s scent, over herself, not leaving him a scrap.

Sebastian was speechless.

Twenty minutes later, the black Maybach pulled away from Sandridge Island.

In the back seat, Sebastian sat in a tailored black three-piece suit, and even the watch on his wrist caught the light with a cold, steely glint.

International airport, Garrett, Sebastian’s bodyguard, frowned. “What did you say?”

The check-in attendant repeated with a polite smile, “I’m sorry, but there’s a problem with your tickets. You can’t leave at the moment.”

“Garrett, why is this taking so long?” Chloe snapped as she walked over, her impatience clear.

Garrett replied, “Miss, there’s an issue with the tickets. We can’t leave just yet.”

Chloe was clearly fed up. She ripped off her sunglasses and slammed them against the counter. “Tickets got a problem? Then fix it. Change them now. I need to get back to Jaflina ASAP.”

She couldn’t take another minute in this dump.

The attendant just kept that polite smile plastered on her face. “I’m sorry, miss, but you can’t leave at the

moment.”

She was perfectly courteous, but it was the same line on repeat.

“What do you mean, we can’t leave right now?” Bastienne, the elegant socialite, called out from behind, her

voice sharp. She was wearing sunglasses too, and her right eyelid had been twitching for a while, leaving her feeling on edge.

The attendant just kept smiling, but didn’t say a word.

Chloe snapped, “What’s with that smile?”

She was absolutely fuming.

And suddenly, the whole waiting area went still, like someone had pressed pause on the world.

It was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop.

The crackling noise felt even sharper in the dead quiet.

Bastienne felt a sudden chill run down her spine. She froze, holding her breath as she turned to look behind her.

She found herself staring straight into a pair of eyes. Icy, emotionless, and so cold they made her skin crawl.

Bastienne’s eyes went wide, pupils trembling with shock.

Without thinking, she yanked off her sunglasses.

Sebastian sat in his wheelchair, like a king ruling the darkness, rolling his prayer beads between his fingers with a brooding, almost unhealthy aura. “After five years, you come back to Haliville, planning to leave without even seeing me once?”

He lifted his gaze.

His lips curled into a cold, faint smile.

In the lounge, Bastienne sprawled out on the sofa, fished a pack of slim cigarettes from her Chanel lambskin bag, and lit one up like she didn’t give a damn about the no-smoking sign right beside her.

She took a deep drag.

Bastienne smirked. “The Gray family’s got so much pull now, you can even control the airport?”

Sebastian sat in his wheelchair, staring out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the sea of city lights. The chill around him was almost physical, his whole presence radiating coldness. In the glass, his reflection was utterly blank, like a statue made of ice.

Bastienne raised an eyebrow. “So, what’s going on between you and that girl? Is she your sugar baby or something?”

Sebastian cut her off. “Shut up.”

His voice made Bastienne’s hand jerk in surprise, but she quickly regained her composure.

The black electric wheelchair whirred as Sebastian turned to face Bastienne, his eyes sharp and cold as blades

Bastienne’s eyes went wide. “Wait, don’t tell me you actually have a thing for that girl? How old is she, anyway? Is she even legal yet? What are you, some kind of pervert?”

Her eyes flashed with malice.

Bastienne scoffed, “So what now? You killed your dad, your brother, and Holly. Are you planning to destroy someone else next?”

Sebastian’s hand, resting on the armrest of his wheelchair, suddenly tightened into a fist.

He shot back, voice cold as ice, “And what about you?”

When he looked up, he buried every trace of emotion deep in his eyes. “The moment things blew up, you couldn’t wait to fake your own death and wash your hands of everything. So what does that make you?”

Bastienne shot to her feet.

“Was I supposed to just stick around and get killed with the rest of you? I still have no clue who came after Eric and the others. Why did you have to drag us all into this mess?” she snapped.
