Chapter 296
Jack instinctively raised his hands in surrender.
He swallowed hard, asking, “Hey, kid, just chill, okay? We can talk this out.”
Stella replied coolly. “I’m perfectly calm.”
He had no idea what to say.

Stella looked away from Jack and fixed her gaze on Dexter. Those deep amber eyes were enough to make anyone’s skin crawl, and she walked toward him with an almost chilling calm.
Dexter said, “You…”
Before he could finish, Stella raised an eyebrow, her face blank. She kicked him in the stomach again, and the pain was so sharp that it felt like his guts were being twisted up. Dexter let out a muffled groan.
The next second, Stella grabbed Dexter by the neck and slammed him against the wall like he was just a rag doll.
There was a loud thud.
Dexter cursed, “Fuck.”
‘Damn, that hurts,‘ he thought.
He forced his eyes open, staring at the girl with that icy look in her eyes.
Dexter was stunned.
Maybe it was just the pain messing with his head, but for a moment, he could’ve sworn he saw a familiar shadow in her face.
Stella said, “So your sister’s a priceless treasure, but other people’s daughters are just garbage to you?” Her gaze was icy and intimidating, carrying a weight far beyond her years.
Dexter had only ever seen that look in his own brother’s eyes before, and it sent a chill down his spine.
Stella gripped his throat with one hand, her lips twisting into a cold, ruthless smile. Her skin was delicate, the corners of her eyes tinged with red, and as her grip tightened, she radiated a menacing, almost sinister vibe.
“Dexter, what if I gave you 6 million and broke your leg myself? Sound good?” she asked.
She chuckled darkly as she spoke.
Everyone who heard her felt a surge of fear, because they knew this girl wasn’t bluffing. She meant every word.
Jack broke out in a cold sweat. He said, “Hey, kid, let him go, now
Stella actually let go, and Dexter gasped for air, coughing hard. Meanwhile, Stella looked totally unfazed as she strolled back to the table and grabbed the 6–million–dollar check.
The next second, she slapped the check right across Dexter’s face with one hand. “Left leg or right leg?” she asked, totally brazen.
Dexter frowned, asking, “Are you out of your
mind?”
Stella asked, “Left leg or right leg?”

“Kid, if you don’t let Dexter go, I’m calling the cops,” Jack stammered, fumbling for his phone, sweat pouring down his forehead.
Stella cocked her head, staring Dexter down. She said, “Fine, I’ll choose for you.”
Her grin disappeared in a flash as she raised her foot, looking realy to kick his left leg. “Ms. Carter,” someone shouted.
In a flash, the coffee shop door burst open again. Emerson finally showed up with his assistant, and the moment he saw the scene, his heart leapt into his throat.
Stella turned her head.
Her gaze was cold.
As soon as Emerson arrived, Jack collapsed to the floor, feeling like he’d just had a brush with death. But then, a sharp crack rang out; everyone stopped dead in their tracks.
All eyes snapped toward the source of the sound.
Dexter screamed, “Ah.”
Agonizing pain shot through his left leg.
Dexter slid down to the floor, his handsome face slick with cold sweat. Meanwhile, Stella, completely unfazed, grabbed a tissue and meticulously wiped her fingers.
She looked up and met Emerson’s gaze.
His face was expressionless, cold, and distant.
“Emerson, I only broke one of his legs. That’s me showing you some respect,” Stella said, her voice icy. She only held back because of Sebastian.
Emerson was speechless.
Later, he turned to his assistant and said, “Go stand guard at the door.”
His voice was low, full of authority.
The assistant hesitated, asking, “Should we call an ambulance first?”
Emerson said, “Out.”
Without another word, the assistant turned and walked out.
Stella sauntered over to Emerson, hands shoved in her pockets, and stopped right in front of him. Their eyes locked, and she caught the flash of anger he was struggling to keep in check.
“Your brother handed me a 6–million–dollar check and tried to by me as a blood donor for your sister,” Stella said.
She sounded bored, almost like she couldn’t care less.
Emerson snapped his head toward Dexter, his pupils shrinking. He said, “Ms. Carter.”
The anger in his eyes disappeared instantly.
Even Emerson had to admit that the whole situation was just absurd.

Chapter 296
‘How did Dexter even have the guts?‘ Emerson thought, dumbfounded.
Stella raised her hand, cutting him off before he could say another word.

Stella said, “Save it. I don’t want excuses, and I don’t care to hear hem. I’m not the forgiving type. If someone messes with me, I pay back every grudge. Your brother came looking for trouble, so I took his leg. That’s fair, isn’t it?”
Emerson was speechless.
To everyone else, Stella never bothered to hide the darkness and wild arrogance in her nature. The only person she’d ever compromise for was Sebastian.
Emerson said, “Ms. Carter, I apologize for my brother.”
Stella just gave a lazy smile, not saying yes or no. She glanced at Dexter sprawled on the floor. She said, “Relax. Just go home and rest up for a couple of months.”
Hearing that, Emerson secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He’d been through enough with Stella back in Farronia to know exactly how scary she could get.
If she hadn’t held back, Dexter’s leg would be completely useless now.
Jack, who’d been listening to the whole thing from the sidelines, was completely floored. He never would’ve guessed that Stella not only knew the Clinton family but wasn’t intimidated by them at all.
Maybe it was just his imagination, but it almost seemed like Emerson was the one who was actually afraid of her.
‘Was this for real? This whole scene was just way too freaky, Jack thought, totally thrown off.
“Ms. Carter, I hope you can keep this from Mr. Gray,” Emerson said, his tone sincere, but he stopped mid–sentence, realizing he was probably asking for too much.
Stella gave a lazy smile. She said, “I won’t bring it up.”
