Before everyone could recover from their shock, the four of them scanned the room, and their eyes finally landed on Stella. Their expressions instantly turned serious.

The four stopped and bowed respectfully toward Stella. But just as they started to speak, Stella lazily lifted her gaze, a faint, unreadable smile on her lips. With just that one look from her, they swallowed the words that were about to come out.

Stella raised an eyebrow and leaned back into her chair. “What’s your last name?” She was asking Quincy.

Quincy stammered, “Quincy.”

Stella nodded. Even sitting down, her aura dominated the room. So, according to the Alliance’s rules, what’s the usual punishment for someone who tarnishes its reputation?” Her tone was so relaxed, it was like she was just asking about the weather.

Quincy froze, unable to respond. His heart did a flip.

“Hum?” Stella asked.

“Cat got your tongue?” the smiling guy said.

Then, a cold gleam flashed from his fingers as five needles pressed right up against Quincy’s throat. The tips of those needles were pitch black. Just one look, and you could tell they were loaded with deadly poison.

Beads of sweat rolled down Quincy’s forehead. His lips trembled slightly. “For a minor offense, they’re expelled from the Alliance.

“For a major offense, they’re deprived of all senses, put on the blacklist, and taken away by the Enforcement Hall. Their family will be permanently denied any medical assistance from the Dorestan Medical Alliance.”

Stella gave an indifferent, unmoved smile. Her gaze slid right past him and landed on those tied up on the floor. She said, “As a council member, you let things get out of hand under your watch. You know exactly what the rules say.”

The smiling guy said nothing, shifting the needles from under Quincy’s chin to the crown of his head. With just a few more jabs, he’d be left a living corpse, stripped of every sense.

Quincy squeezed his eyes shut, feeling like his soul was about to shatter from sheer terror, but he didn’t dare move an inch. Just when he thought this was the end, he heard the sweetest words he could imagine.

Stella propped her chin on one hand, her voice lazy, “But the International Herbal Medicine Conference is coming up, and I still need you for something.”

Quincy’s head snapped up. Relief and disbelief flooded his face. He looked like someone who’d just dodged death itself.

“Ms. Carter.” His voice broke, tears streaming down his face.

With a cool, casual wave of her hand, Stella signaled the smiling guy. He instantly pulled back the poisoned needles, stepped back half a pace, and gave her a respectful nod.

“But while you might escape death, you still have to pay the price. Starting today, you’re demoted from director to deputy director. Do you agree?” Stella said.

Quincy sniffled, not even hesitating. “Yes! Yes, I agree.”

‘Compared to losing my life, I’d take any demotion. Even if I have to do grunt work or start from the very bottom again at the Dorestan Medical Alliance. Anything’s better than dying. Quincy thought, relief flooding through him.

Quincy took an eager step forward, almost reaching for her hand when Stella’s expression suddenly turned cold. She lifted her fingers, her palm facing upward, as if waiting for something else.

“Council badge,” Stella said.

Quincy froze, realizing what she meant. He hurriedly unpinned he council badge from his chest, the mark of the highest rank in the Traditional Medicine Association. Making sure not to brush against Stella’s hand, he carefully placed it in her palm.

The next second, Stella, her expression cool and indifferent, reached out her hand toward Landen. He just lost for words and blinked in surprise.

“Dr. Miracle, what’s this about?” he stammered.

Stella’s face was expressionless. “From now on, you’re the director of the Traditional Medicine Association.”

Landen’s mind was spinning. He couldn’t believe it. “The Traditional Medicine Association. The one I’ve never really gotten along with. And now I’m the director! Landen was floored.

“Me? Director? Dr. Miracle, you’ve got to be kidding,” Landen stammered, still in shock.

Stella shot him a cool look. “Weren’t you the one who told me to battle those guys?”

Landen just lost for words. He just wanted Stella to throw down with those old fossils, but he couldn’t have imagined she’d go and flip the whole Traditional Medicine Association on its head. Landen hesitated, his mind blank.

Stella’s eyes

narrowed, her tone icy. “You really don’t want it?”

The moment she said that, the four from the Enforcement Hall turned their gazes on Landen, cold and merciless. Their presence was so intense that it felt like the air itself had frozen.

“I want it!” Landen blurted out, not daring to hesitate as he took the badge from Stella’s hand.

Even after he pinned the council badge to his chest, Landen was still in a daze. He had no idea how he’d ended up as a council member, staring at the badge as he’d just woken up in someone else’s life.

He giggled inwardly. “Talk about a late-life surprise. Getting promoted now feels like getting a baby announcement in the retirement home, Landen thought, grinning from ear to ear.

“Enforcement Hall, await my orders,” Stella said, her voice light and effortless as she watched Landen take the badge.

The four of them bowed and said, “Yes!”

Stella’s delicate, breathtaking face was icy cold. “Ship these people off to Devil Island. If they’re too proud to follow the Dorestan Medical Alliance’s rules, then let them see how they survive in a place where there are no rules at all.”

Devil Island was a remote, little-known island. It was jointly run by the Shadow Alliance, the Chaos Syndicate, and the Phantom League.

This was where the most dangerous criminals, traitors, and rule breakers from all three organizations were locked away Just hearing its name was enough to strike fear into anyone’s heart.

“No!” Those old men totally freaked out, panic written all over their faces.

‘Devil Island! How can they send us to Devil Island? We just used our positions to get a little something for ourselves. That’s

“We’re the members of the Traditional Medicine Association. Who else could possibly fill our shoes?” Their faces went ghostly pale, sweat dripping down their foreheads.

Stella’s voice dripped with mockery as a cold smile curled on her lips. “No one else can fill your shoes?” She leaned in, towering over these stubborn old men who were still trying to a tough. “Quincy, explain.”
