Quinto had just lost his prized disciple, and even his own daughter was gone. All the Herbal Medicine folks who used to stand with him had ditched him.

Monterra stopped taking his calls the second he was no longer useful, and Medicine Mountain didn’t even talk to him. He was left with nothing, betrayed and abandoned by everyone.

Stella kept silent. As she walked past Emily, she gave her a comforting pat on the shoulder, then sat down across from Quinto with a frosty indifference, her lashes lifting. “Let her go,” she ordered.

Quinto let out a cold laugh. “Ha, and where’s my stuff?” he taunted, his voice slick with menace as he eyed Stella’s empty hands.

Stella glanced at him, her gaze cool and emotionless, as if nothing in the world could shake her.

Stella raised her hand. With a cold, crisp clap of her palm, the room fell silent.

Cain stepped out from the shadows, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing at his lips as he bowed respectfully. “Young Sovereign.”

Quinto was left speechless. His eyes widened in shock.

‘Wait, the Shadow Alliance boss… Her last name is Carter, right?’ Quinto’s mind raced. ‘Y-Young Sovereign?’

Stella shot him a look, and Cain gracefully stepped aside, revealing the darkness behind him. In the next instant, the courtyard was flooded with light.

Men, women, old folks, and kids were all tied up like mummies, their mouths gagged tight. Fear was written all over their faces, but not a single word could escape.

The scene was so shocking that even Emily forgot to struggle for a moment.

Everyone’s eyes went wide. There were dozens of them.

“You!” Quinto shot to his feet, chest heaving with disbelief. In just a blink, Stella dragged every last one of his relatives, three generations’ worth, right here, all trussed up and helpless.

Stella, rocking a loose black shirt, didn’t even blink. She casually toyed with the 108-bead bracelet on her wrist, not a ripple of emotion crossing her face.

Quinto’s hands shook. “How can you be so ruthless at your age?”

Stella gave him a long, meaningful look. “I never made the first move.”

Her voice was icy, sending a chill straight to his bones.

She was just countering their moves. Whatever they tried, she dismantled it.

Quinto’s usually immaculate silver hair now hung limp and defeated, cold sweat streaming down his face.

His eyes

flickered with panic as he stared at his father, brothers, aunts, and sisters-in-law standing in the courtyard. He felt like he couldn’t breathe.

Stella slowly lifted her hand, the beads on her wrist clinking together with a cold, chilling sound.

Almost instantly, a squad of black-clad operatives appeared behind the captives, their powerful hands simultaneously clamping down on the captives’ throats.

“S-Shadow Alliance?” Quinto’s voice broke in terror as he stared at the black-clad figures.

Quinto’s mind spun in disbelief, ‘The Shadow Alliance, that’s the group even the richest moguls have to bow their heads to?

‘Why are they here? What’s their connection to the Dorestan Medical Alliance? Why do they all obey this girl?’

Quinto was shaking, totally floored. “Who… Who the hell are you?”

Huge drops of sweat were pouring down his forehead. His hands were trembling, veins popping out all over.

Stella shot him a cold, mocking smile. “Seriously? You mess with me, and now you wanna ask who I am? How stupid can you get?”

Her eyes had a teasing glint, but it sent a chill down Quinto’s spine.

“Cedar, tell him who I am,” Stella said casually, her tone lazy and unbothered.

Stella casually fiddled with her beads again.

Cain’s refined features broke into a smile. “Ms. Carter isn’t just the head of the Dorestan Medical Alliance. She’s also the boss of the Shadow Alliance.”

With that, Cain looked at Quinto with pure pity. “You really messed with the wrong person.”

Quinto’s jaw dropped. ‘Wait, what did he just say?’ Quinto’s mind was reeling.

Quinto whipped his head around to stare at Stella, his eyes nearly popping out of his skull. He thought, “The head of the Dorestan Medical Alliance and the boss of the Shadow Alliance?

‘Wait, she’s both of them? All that power, and it’s this girl standing right here?”

Quinto’s whole world just came crashing down.

‘How is this even possible? No way. This can’t be real, he thought, his whole world shattering.

Quinto just crumpled to the ground, soaked in cold sweat, but Stella didn’t even look his way. She just pointed lazily at Emily, like he didn’t even exist.

Cain didn’t hesitate. He strode over and freed Emily from her ropes.

Emily was still in shock, just staring blankly at Stella. “Stella, you…” she managed, but her voice trailed off.

She opened her mouth, trying to speak, but nothing came out, not even a squeak.

Stella suddenly broke into a gentle smile, her icy vibe melting away for a moment. She lifted her wrist, beads catching the light, and teased Emily, “Lost your wits? My ace assistant.”

Emily’s eyes brimmed with tears. All the terror and panic from being kidnapped tonight melted away in an instant.

She gripped Stella’s hand tightly, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I’m totally clear-headed! My chief surgeon!”

‘No matter how powerful Stella is, she’ll always be my sister!’ Emily thought, her heart swelling with pride.

Quinto snapped out of it, crawling over to Stella. “I’m sorry! I was wrong! I know I messed up!” He was shaking like a leaf and pleading for mercy.

Stella let out a soft laugh. “Didn’t you want the Ghost Orchid and Silverthatch?”

In the courtyard, the Shadow Alliance operatives had their grip digging mercilessly into the flesh of Quinto’s relatives. The fear and suffocation were so overwhelming that some even pissed themselves in terror.

Quinto’s voice shook as he desperately shook his head. “No, I don’t want anything! Please, just stop!”

But Stella’s smile only grew more dangerously playful. “Is that so?” she said coolly.

“But you hurt my friend, and that really pissed me off.” She reached out and slid Quinto’s acupuncture kit across the table toward him.

She said, “I could shut down all five of your senses and wipe out your sixth. Need me to help you with that?”

Stella’s voice was chillingly calm, but to Quinto, it was like his whole world just exploded.

His eyes flickered with panic.

He stared at the acupuncture kit in front of him. If she really wiped out all his senses, he’d be nothing but the living dead, a hollow shell, doomed to wander through life empty and broken.

After all those years fighting his way up, Quinto couldn’t accept such a fate.
