Sham Marriage Quit Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 116

With that thought, Camille hurried in the direction Elena had gone.

Elena had no idea Camille was following her.

Night had fully fallen. The firefighters had not reentered the structure. She bent slightly as sh moved carefully through the debris, taking photos whenever she spotted anything suspicious

At the far end of the factory, she saw a shadow.

A man was bent over, holding a dim flashlight, appearing to pry at something among the charred remains.

Elena carefully edged closer and lifted her phone to record.

The man did not notice her.

He forced open a cabinet that had been burned black, pulled something out from inside, slipped it into his pocket, then picked up something from the floor. He gathered some of the scorched debris together as if trying to conceal traces, and after finishing, he left through another exit.

Only when she was certain he had gone did Elena check the photos.

The distance was not far, and the images were relatively clear. She saw what the man had taker

It looked like a notebook. In another photo, he was holding what appeared to be a Molotov cocktail.

Elena’s heart dropped sharply.

This fire was set on purpose. Victor and Nathan deliberately burned down the factory.

She could not stay any longer.

Just as she turned to leave, she came face to face with a cold, expressionless man. It was the

same person.

Elena let out a startled cry and ran toward the exit as fast as she could.

The man reached out to grab her hair, but she twisted away just in time. She clutched her phone tightly and sprinted forward because everything on that phone was evidence and she could not afford to lose it.

She was almost out when Camille suddenly appeared in front of her.

Elena, what are you doing here?

Camille studied her hurried expression, suspicion rising.

Is Elena secretly meeting someone?

Fisighe

Elena glanced behind her. The man had stopped, likely because there was another present. She exhaled slightly. Move.

Did you arrange to meet Nathan here?Camille demanded. I’m his wife now. You’re nothing.

Thinking of what Nathan had told her earlier, Camille could not resist asserting her position.

No one wants to fight you for a man like that,Elena replied coldly. If you think he’s a prize, that’s your choice.”

She tried to walk past her.

Stop right there. What do you mean by that? How dare you talk about him like that?Camille snapped, unwilling to hear Nathan insulted.

She rushed forward and grabbed Elena’s arm. Elena instinctively shook her off with force, and Camille stumbled sideways, crashing into a low wall that was already unstable.

The weakened wall swayed dangerously, and at that same moment, a charred wooden beam leaning against it tipped over.

Neither of them reacted in time.

The beam slammed down onto both of them.

Heat still lingered in the wood, and it pressed heavily against Elena’s lower leg. Pain shot through her as her skin burned sharply.

Camille was no better off.

Her arm was pinned beneath the beam, and she could not move.

Camille?

Nathan had been waiting outside for someone to report back. When no one came, uneasy and ran inside.

wall was on the verge of collapsing.

Elena noticed the wall as well.

She tried to pull her leg free from under the beam, but it would not budge. In the distance, she could hear the fading sound of fire trucks leaving. The flames had been extinguished, and the firefighters were departing.

She had hoped someone would come back to check the interior, but now there was no one left to rely on.

Nathan, call 911 and get them back here,” she shouted.

Her phone lay not far away, but she could not reach it. All she could do was hope Nathan would call for help.

At the word call, Nathan’s expression tightened, and he did not move.

In that instant, Elena understood. He would not call.

Then come help us,she shouted instead.

Nathan seemed to snap out of his hesitation and was about to move forward.

Camille’s voice trembled with tears. Nathan, I’m in so much pain. Please help me.

Her arm felt as if it had been torn apart. Seeing Nathan about to move toward Elena, she cried even harder, her voice soft and pleading. I’m carrying your baby. Please save me first.
