Chapter 127 Hospital Clash
Elena let out a cold laugh, the sound low and sharp.

Victoria still refused to believe that her own husband could have done something like that.
“So it really was you?” Victoria’s eyes widened as she glared at Elena, looking as if she could tear her apart. “You called him Dad for five years. How can you be this vicious? Thank God Nathan never had a child with you. A woman like you, who knows what kind of monster you’d give birth to?”
Elena’s smile turned mocking. “Vicious? You really want to compare? You think I could ever outdo your whole family?”
At that moment, Nathan rushed in. He had come to persuade Elena to back down, but he had not expected Victoria and Camille to be there as well. He froze briefly when he saw them.
“Mom, what are you doing here?”
Victoria pointed at Elena. “We came to settle the score with her.”
Nathan pressed a hand to his forehead. “Mom, stop.”
“I-”
Victoria tried to continue, but Nathan shot her a cold look that made her swallow the rest of her words.
He walked over to Elena’s hospital bed and lowered his voice. “Elena, I know you’re angry. I know you’re upset that I kept things from you for five years. But no matter what happened, my dad is still your elder. These past five years, he treated you well. What’s between us doesn’t need to drag him into it.”
If Elena would just relent, everything would become much easier.
“I told you I would make it up to you. I’ll divorce Camille. The moment we’re legally done, I can marry you again. Elena, please stop pushing this, alright?”
He dropped to one knee beside her bed, regret written all over his face, his tone thick with practiced sincerity.
Camille stood off to the side, her face pale, biting her lower lip so hard it nearly lost color, yet she did not dare interrupt.
Elena felt nothing b
disgust watching him perform. “Do you actually think this looks romantic?”
There was no warmth in her eyes. Only ridicule curved at the corner of her mouth.
“An hour ago, I almost died in this room. An hour later, I’m watching the man who orchestrated it come in here and put on a love confession. Nathan, how did I never notice how fake you are?”
“How could I ever hurt you?” Nathan insisted quickly. “Elena, I’m not heartless. Five years matters to me. I want you safe more than anyone.”
He reached for her hand. “If you agree, we can still be husband and wife. Isn’t that what you
wanted?”

Elena pulled her hand back and slapped him hard across the face. His head snapped to the side.
“How dare you hit him?” Camille rushed forward.
Elena lifted her chin. “I hit him. Ask him if he has a problem with it.”

Nathan endured the sting and forced a smile. “No problem. If it helps you calm down, hit me as much as
you want.”
Elena had never heard someone ask for humiliation so eagerly.
She obliged, slapping him again. The second strike left matching marks across his face.
Still not satisfied, she grabbed the half–finished cup of water from the bedside table and splashed it over
him.
“You looked dirty. Consider that a rinse.”
“Nathan!”
“Honey!”
Victoria and Camille both moved toward him, but Nathan raised a hand, stopping them.
In his mind, Elena’s anger only proved she still cared deeply.
With both cheeks swollen and his hair dripping, he looked ridiculous, yet he gazed at her as though he were some tragic hero. “As long as you calm down and don’t drag other people into this, I’ll do anything you ask.”
Elena felt exhausted just looking at them. “I have one request.”
She leaned back against the pillow and pointed toward the door. “Get out. All of you. Right now.”
Nathan refused to give up. “About my dad-”
“If he didn’t do anything wrong, what is he afraid of?” Elena replied evenly.
Nathan fell silent. Harold had already been sent away. The hired attack might be hard to trace, but the arson investigation would uncover the misuse of funds eventually. If Charles found out, the shares would be gone.
“Elena, I can stay with you until you feel better-”
“Nathan, what are you doing here?” Sophia’s voice cut in from the doorway.
Everyone turned.
Alexander and Sophia stood there. No one knew how long they had been watching.

Sophia “Leave. Now. If you don’t, I’ll call security.”
Nathan’s temper flared, but when his eyes met Alexander’s cold expression, he swallowed it. He pushed himself up from the floor.
“Elena, think about what I said. When you’re ready, call me.”

He spoke gently, then left with Victoria and Camille.
Back in the car, Camille asked quietly, “Nathan, don’t you think Elena’s been getting awfully close to the Kingsleys lately? And that Alexander… if they were just connected through an interview before, why would he keep showing up for her?”
