Sham Marriage Quit, Real Heiress Strikes Back
Chapter 132 The Report
After saying that, Lydia patted Camille lightly on the shoulder. “Don’t disappoint me.”
Camille was thrilled.
Was this not essentially handing the assignment over to her?
She suppressed her excitement and asked, “Won’t Elena be upset?”

“There’s nothing to be upset about. You’re pregnant and still showing up to work after being injured. She has a minor burn and suddenly the whole world needs to know she’s resting. Velmora Media doesn’t encourage overtime, but this feels more like avoiding responsibility than recovery.”
Lydia spoke with complete seriousness, as if this were purely about work ethic.
“Alright. I’ll take care of it.”
Camille opened the file.
As she scanned the contents, her expression shifted slightly.
“Is it complicated?” Lydia assumed she found it difficult.
“No, not at all.”
Camille quickly closed the file. It became clear that Lydia had not read it. She had forwarded it directly from Elena and handed it over.
Relief washed over Camille.
“I’ll get started then, Lydia.”
“Go ahead.”

Camille stepped out with the file. The surrounding desks were mostly empty at that hour, and she finally allowed herself to breathe before opening it again.
Elena had gone too far.
She had included the photos from the fire scene and deliberately steered the narrative toward questioning the cause of the fire.
If this report and those photos went public, Nathan and Victor would become targets overnight.

Nathan did. He was the man she loved, the one she had fought to keep, and she could not stand by and watch his reputation collapse piece by piece.
Camille quickly took photos of the file and the images with her phone and sent them to Nathan along with a message.
Camille sent a message, “Nathan, I can’t believe how far Elena is willing to go. If she publishes this, she’s trying to ruin you, isn’t she?”
Nathan was already downstairs at the hospital when he received it.
He looked at the images and tightened his grip on his phone before striding toward Elena’s hospital room, anger radiating off him.
He had not even touched the door when two large men stepped in front of him.
“Sir, you
can’t
go
in.”
Two broad–shouldered men stepped forward from seemingly nowhere and blocked Nathan’s path, their stance firm and unyielding.
Nathan’s jaw tightened, the muscles in his face twitching with restrained anger. “I’m here to see Elena.”
One of the men didn’t even blink. “Doesn’t matter who you’re here for. You’re not getting past this door.”
Nathan had never been treated like this. He was used to deciding who he would see and who he would ignore, and now he needed permission just to see Elena?
The thought only fueled his anger.

He shoved at the guard, trying to force his way through, but the guard barely moved. Instead, Nathan nearly lost his balance and stumbled back.
“Elena!”
The more embarrassed he felt, the louder he got.
“I know you’re in there! If you’re mad at me, fine, but at least let’s talk face to face, okay?”
“Lower your voice,” the guard warned as he stepped forward and grabbed Nathan, steering him toward the elevator as if ready to escort him out.
Nathan struggled, unable to break free.

At that moment, the hospital room door opened.
Elena sat in a wheelchair wearing a hospital gown, her right leg wrapped in bandages. She looked better than she had a few days ago.
“Do you need something?”
Her tone was calm.
Nathan immediately softened his voice. “Elena, I know you’re upset with me. I think there’s been a misunderstanding between us. Let me come in so we can talk.”
“What exactly is there to talk about?”
She let out a cold laugh.
“What misunderstanding could there possibly be? You told me you were divorcing Camille, but that never happened. You told me you loved me, yet when the fire broke out, the person you carried out was Camille. Do I really look like someone who’s that easy to fool?”
Nathan hesitated.
“Camille and I will divorce eventually. Just tell me something first. At the fire scene, did you see anything you shouldn’t have?”
He was thinking about the photos she had.
“It was just my father sending someone to retrieve a personal item. Don’t let your anger at me turn into false accusations. You’ve always been kind and reasonable. There’s no need to make yourself look ugly over this.”
The audacity. Elena almost admired it.
“Oh, I see. So I misunderstood.”
She let the words linger.
Nathan nodded. “Exactly. Delete the photos and explain to the police that you were mistaken. There’s no reason to escalate this.”
If she publicly corrected the record, Victor’s situation would become much easier.
“You seem to be confused about something.”
Her eyes were clear as they rested on him.
