Chapter 208 Public Reveal
She hadn’t even finished speaking when Clement’s voice came through the mic.
“Don’t you think this is a bit rushed. Elena? We just wrapped Monica’s interview and now we’re already reaching out to the next one. The way you’re pushing this, it almost feels like we’re trying to compete head- on with Aetherline Media.”
After he finished, silence dragged across the room.
Clement picked up his phone and sent Matteo another message, still nothing.
Inside the conference room, everyone’s eyes moved in sync, first to Clement on the screen, then to Elena. and finally landing on Alexander.
Man… Clement just walked straight into it.
What was he thinking? He’d only been away in Eldoria for a few days and now he was suddenly going up against Elena?
Even Elena didn’t see this coming.
They had already aligned on this strategy before. Back then, Clement had no objections. Now he was pushing back in front of everyone.
Something definitely happened in Eldoria.
And Fiona is probably behind it.
“If you’ve got concerns, Clement, we can go over them after the meeting and sync with Alexander afterward.”
Everyone had expected her to push back.
Instead, Elena kept it calm, her tone easy, her face unreadable.
Clement was about to say more.
Matteo quickly stood up, cutting him off before things got worse. “Yeah, Elena’s right. Clement, let’s take this offline. Didn’t you say you’ve got something coming up? You should go handle that. I’ll take care of the report later.”
Before Clement could respond, Matteo ended the call.
Clement froze.
“What?”
Now he was completely confused.
What’s Matten even doing? He’d only been covering for a few months, so why was he suddenly acting like he owned the place?

Annoyed. Clement sent him a “?” on WhatsApp.
A second later. Matteo finally replied.
“Clement, you seriously didn’t know? Elena is Alexander’s wife.”
Clement’s pupils tightened.
Elena…is Alexander’s wife?
The rest of the meeting went smoothly.

As soon as it ended. Elena lett Pinnacle Group’s headquarters almost like she was getting out of there as fast as possible.
Her emotions were tangled.
She and Alexander had an unspoken agreement to keep their relationship private. But today, he revealed it in front of everyone.
She had no idea how to explain that now.
Matteo had been holding back the whole way, then finally said, “Elena… about what I said earlier, don’t take it personally. We honestly didn’t know about you and Alexander.”
“It’s fine. I didn’t take it to heart. You don’t need to worry about it.”
She really didn’t
Alexander could come off cold and hard to approach sometimes, that much was true.
Matteo finally relaxed.
His phone kept buzzing. He glanced at it, hesitated, then said, “Elena, Clement’s calling.”
“Go ahead.”
Elena kept both hands steady on the wheel, her expression calm.
Matteo answered. Before he could speak, Clement’s voice came through loud and clear.
“What did you mean by that message? What do you mean Elena is Alexander’s wife?”
He couldn’t wrap his head around it.
Fiona had made it sound like Elena and Alexander had some kind of questionable relationship. If they were actually married, why wouldn’t she just say it?
Matteo hesitated, unsure how to respond.
Elena reached out her hand, signaling for the phone.
“Clement,” she said.

He paused. “Elena…”

“My relationship with Alexander wasn’t meant to be hidden. We just didn’t go public because of the reporting structure, we didn’t want it affecting work. But from the way you reacted, it sounds like you misunderstood what’s between us.”
That confirmation hit hard. Clement’s mind went blank.
Who would’ve guessed that right after ending things with Nathan, Elena had married Alexander?
“I’m not trying to clash with you. Clement. We’ve worked well together. I just hope you’re not letting someone else’s version of things influence you.”
That one sentence snapped everything into place.
If Fiona hadn’t twisted the story in front of him, he never would’ve assumed Elena was some manipulative woman who slept her way up.
It was all Fiona.
After hanging up. Elena drove into Velmora Media’s parking lot.
She had just stepped into the office when Hannah walked over. “Elena, Monica’s waiting for you in the conference room.”
Elena headed straight there.
The moment Monica saw her, she stood up and walked over with a smile. “Finally, I’ve been waiting forever.”
“Aunt Monica, what are you doing here?”
Elena set her files down, letting out a breath.
“I came to take you out after work.” Monica looped her arm through hers, warm and affectionate.
