Shain Marriage Quit, Real Heiress Strikes Back
Chapter 212 Damage Control
Victoria didn’t hesitate, her voice firm and unwavering.
Charles exhaled slowly, rubbing his temples. “Enough, Victoria. Just stop. If the Kingsleys decide to push this, do you really think the Hawthorne family walks away untouched? Daniel, come with me.”
Ignoring her protests, Charles headed straight for Alexander’s hospital room with Daniel.
The Hawthorne family already had too much on their plate. Picking a fight with the Kingsleys right now would be a disaster they couldn’t afford. What mattered most was cooling Walter down before things spiraled.
Nathan was still out cold.
Victoria stood by his bed, staring at his pale face, her chest tightening with anger and pain.
Apologize to the Kingsleys?
On what grounds?
If the Hawthornes couldn’t have peace, then neither would the Kingsleys.
She refused to believe that once Alexander’s wife found out he had Elena on the side, she would just sit back and take it.
Inside the room, Elena stayed with Alexander alongside Evelyn.
Alexander’s injury was barely worth mentioning. Just a small cut on his hand with a bandage.
But Walter had made it sound like a serious injury, and the doctor had gone along with it, wrapping his entire arm for good measure.
Now he could barely move it at all.
Which left Elena acting like his personal caregiver, handing him water, adjusting his pillow, staying within arm’s reach the whole time.
Evelyn shot him an irritated look. “You’re a grown man, Alexander. Since when do you settle things by throwing punches like some frat boy?”
Alexander didn’t even glance at her. He clearly didn’t think he’d done anything wrong.
Elena spoke up, taking responsibility. “This started because of me-”
Alexander cut her off without hesitation. “No, it didn’t. I just don’t like Nathan.”
Evelyn looked at him, then at Elena, and let out a dry laugh.
“What you think I’m going to go after her? You acting like I’m some villain in a soap opera?”
She rolled her eyes, then turned to Elena. her tone sharpening.

“I’m serious. Elena. You’re part of the Kingsley family now. Whatever ties you had with the Hart family are in the past. You represent us. Don’t let anyone push you around. Understood?”
“Yes,” Elena answered softly.
She really hadn’t expected Nathan to snap like that.
Just then, voices drifted in from the hallway. Both Elena and Evelyn went quiet.
Elena stepped over to the window and glanced outside.
Charles and Daniel stood there, both wearing polite, slightly strained smiles. It was obvious why they were here.
“Walter.” Charles said, his tone measured, “I’ve looked into what happened. This one’s on us. Honestly, at our age, still cleaning up after the younger generation… it’s exhausting. How’s Alexander doing? Mind if I step in and check on him?”
He leaned slightly, trying to see inside.
Walter sat squarely by the door, blocking the view completely.
Daniel added quickly, “Yeah, this is on Nathan. He crossed a line and upset Alexander.”
Walter gave a faint smile, one that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“So that’s it?” he said calmly. “You show up, say a few words, and we pretend nothing happened?”
His gaze sharpened.
“Alexander’s hands aren’t exactly replaceable. If you want to apologize, have Nathan come here himself. And not just to Alexander. He owes Elena an apology too.”
Walter knew their marriage hadn’t been made public. So he didn’t expose it.
Charles frowned slightly. “What does this have to do with Elena?”
He genuinely didn’t know.
Walter let out a cold chuckle. “So you don’t even know what your grandson did? He put his hands on her. Nearly strangled her.”
Charles expression hardened instantly, his hands clenching into fists.
“That idiot…” He took a breath, forcing his tone back under control. “Walter, thank you for telling me. He’s already wronged Elena before. Once he recovers, I’ll make sure he personally apologizes to her. She’s a good kid, she won’t hold onto this. Let’s not let this affect our families…”
Walter’s face turned cold.
“I’ve heard about Nathan and Elena,” he said slowly. “Five years. He lied to her for five years. And in those five years, she treated you like her own grandfather, checking in on you, taking care of you whenever you weren’t feeling well,”

His eyes locked onto Charles.
“I thought you actually cared about her. Turns out, nothing matters more than the Hawthorne family
name.”
Charles‘ face flushed deep red. He couldn’t deny it.
He did care about Elena.
But when it came down to it… Family came first.
What unsettled him more was this, Walter has stayed out of these kinds of matters.
So how did he know all this?

both Elena and Alexander are stupid, they already knew and agreed to be open, honest and trust each other, but instead they repeated the same mistakes which made them suspicious of each other....
