Sham Marriage Quil, Real Heiress Striker Back
Chapter 216 Good News
They spun up a small group chat on WhatsApp.
Aside from Fiona, the other three all dropped a question mark at the same time.
“What’s going on with Alexander?”
Finished
“No clue. Is he gonna go off on us or what? Why is he just sitting there smiling at the screen? That’s honestly worse than getting chewed out.”
“This is kind of freaking me out. Did we actually push him too far?”
Fiona glanced at the messages, a faint smile tugging at her lips, like she was in on something they weren’t. She spoke up smoothly. “Mr. Kingsley, the Marketing team has finished their report.”
“Mm.”
Alexander finally snapped back to the moment.
The other three exchanged quick looks.
See? Fiona really was different. If it were them, they wouldn’t dare say a word unless he called on them first.
By all logic, what came next should’ve been a full–on critique.
But instead…
“Anything else?” Alexander asked.
The three of them froze.
“Uh… no, Alexander. You… don’t have anything to add?”
The Marketing Director looked completely thrown off.
Alexander said, “Nothing. You’ve all been putting in a lot of work lately. Things are slowing down, so log off on time, go home, spend some time with your families.”
Silence.
That was way more unsettling than getting fired on the spot.
“Mr. Kingsley, actually, I think our department’s been a little off lately. Don’t worry, we’ll fix it. We’ll stay late tonight, no one’s leaving before midnight.”
The Marketing Director said it like he was pledging allegiance.
Alexander looked at him like he’d lost his mind. “Leave on time. I don’t want people saying Pinnacle Group burns out its employees. If you’ve got extra energy, use it at home.”
Fiona was the first to pick up on it.

She let out a soft laugh. “You seem to be in a really good mood today?”
Alexander didn’t hide it at all. “Yeah. My wife’s pregnant.”
His voice wasn’t loud.
But Fiona suddenly felt a sharp ringing in her ears.
料
Frughed
The others snapped out of it first, immediately jumping in with congratulations. It took Fiona a second longer to recover.
“Alexander, did you just say your wife is pregnant?”
She leaned closer to the mic, unable to keep the urgency out of her voice.
“Yeah.” Alexander didn’t look at her. “Alright, everyone can wrap up early.”
He reached to end the call.
“Wait-” Fiona blurted it out, completely forgetting herself.
Alexander paused. The others all turned to look at her on screen.
“What is it?” he asked, a slight frown forming.
Only then did Fiona realize how out of line she’d been. She forced a smile. “Nothing… just, congratulations, Alexander.”
“Thanks.”
Right after he said that, a loud bang came from his side, like a door slamming hard against the wall. Then Elena’s voice came through, sharp and furious.
“Alexander, you want to explain what the hell this is? Are you seriously playing me right now? Do you think I’m stupid?”
The four people on the call looked completely lost.
Alexander didn’t even glance at them. A rare hint of awkwardness crossed his face. “I can explain. Don’t be mad, okay?”
“Oh really? You think I’m that easy to fool?”
More crashing sounds followed.
Then, the call cut out. The group chat instantly blew up.
“No way… I did NOT expect that. Alexander actually gets shut down at home”
mean, look at Elena. Does she seem like someone you can push around?”
“That’s not the point. It’s because he’s into her. If he wasn’t, would he let anyone talk to him like that? Fiona, has anyone ever talked to him like that before?”

Fiona didn’t reply.
The person who asked that question quickly realized something felt off.
They used to joke about Fiona and Alexander all the time. Even though he was married, everyone assumed Fiona meant something to him.
Otherwise, how did she land a role at Pinnacle Group right out of college?
But now…
After seeing how he treated Elena, those rumors didn’t hold up at all.
If anything. Fiona’s silence all this time, never denying any of it, now felt… deliberate.
“Let’s end it here.”
After a while, Fiona finally sent a message.
She took off her headset and stepped out of her office, heading to the break room to pour herself some coffee, trying to figure out how she could get back from Eldoria…
There was no way she was just going to sit back and watch Elena have Alexander’s child.
The moment she walked in, she ran into Clement.
Her gaze flickered slightly. “Clement.”.
Clement glanced at her, expression flat. “Yeah?”
Fiona didn’t notice anything off, her mind still restless. She smiled. “You and Elena both worked at Velmora Media before, right? What was she like there? I heard she and Camille were always going head–to–head
behind the scenes. And Nathan’s been trying to get back together with her, hasn’t he? Did he ever go over to Velmora to see her?”

both Elena and Alexander are stupid, they already knew and agreed to be open, honest and trust each other, but instead they repeated the same mistakes which made them suspicious of each other....
