“This actually makes sense,” Zoe said. “Elena is just Malcolm’s adopted daughter. She doesn’t really have anything to do with the Sterling family. I guess I was overthinking it.”

She looked at Zoe coldly and said, “Are you hiding something from me?”
Zoe felt her heart jump.
“N–no,” Zoe said with a dry laugh. “What would I be hiding from you? Riona, did Elena say something to you? I’m telling you, that woman has a sharp tongue. I don’t even know what she told the Kingsley family, but somehow she got all of them on her side.”
The more Zoe spoke, the more suspicious Riona became.
She stepped closer to Zoe.
“Zoe,” Riona said, “you’d better tell me honestly what else you know about Elena.”

“Say it,” Riona snapped. “If anything happens to Landon, don’t even think about getting another cent from the Sterling family.”
Zoe shuddered.
“Elena is just Malcolm’s adopted daughter,” Zoe said. “There’s really nothing else.”
When Riona heard this, the anger on her face shifted into shock.

“Yes,” Zoe said quickly. “I only found out not long ago. I didn’t think it was a big deal. Riona, Malcolm already cut ties with the Sterling family. He’s not one of us anymore, so I didn’t say anything. You’re not that upset over this, right?”
In the Sterling family, aside from Alaric, almost everyone listened to Riona.
Even though Zoe was also part of the family, her finances still depended on Riona.
Riona let out a cold laugh.

She called her. “Didn’t you say it wouldn’t matter if I didn’t tell my sister that Elena is my brother’s adopted daughter? She just came to question me, and it clearly does matter…”
Fiona’s voice remained gentle.
“It’s fine, Zoe. Your sister is only angry because of her son. Malcolm has been away from the Sterling family for so long. How important could an adopted daughter be? Don’t worry, nothing will happen.”
“Are you sure nothing will happen?”
Zoe still felt uneasy.
“It’s fine,” Fiona said. “Even if something does happen, it’s because of Elena. If she hadn’t caused so many problems, your sister wouldn’t have come to trouble you, right?”
Fiona easily shifted the blame onto Elena.
Zoe already didn’t like Elena, and after hearing this, she felt it made sense. This Elena really brought too many problems.
After Riona left the hotel, she got into the car and immediately called Alexander.
“What exactly are you trying to do?”
She couldn’t figure out what Alexander was planning.
If Malcolm didn’t want anything to do with the Sterling family, and if Alexander truly liked Elena, then he shouldn’t want the Sterling family to know about her.
