Sham Marriage Quit, Real Heiress Strikes Back
Chapter 289 Lines That Blur
On top of everything, with the wave of negative media coverage, Nicole’s future was essentially ruined.
She no longer had the financial means to continue paying for Gordon’s treatment. Fortunately, Gideon stepped in and helped her secure a spot in a medical assistance program, which significantly reduced her burden.
Alexander’s handsome face remained tense, a layer of coldness still lingering in his expression.
Alexander said, “The way you’re saying it, it almost sounds like I’m the one bullying him.”
Elena caught the hint of jealousy in his words.
She leaned gently into his arms and said, “No, you’re not. We’re just friends. Don’t overthink it.”
Although…
There was something unexpectedly cute about a jealous Alexander.
With the woman he loved leaning against him like that, whatever dissatisfaction he had toward Gideon gradually faded.
Alexander said, “For your sake, I’ll pretend nothing happened.”
That man had provoked him more than once.
But for Elena, he could let it slide.
A faint smile appeared on Elena’s lips. Then she suddenly thought of something and reached out, lightly touching a certain spot on him.
The moment her hand landed, he grabbed it.
Alexander said, “Don’t touch.”
His tone carried a subtle, ambiguous warning.
Ryan instinctively glanced back from the front seat. Elena’s face turned red immediately. She pulled her hand away.
Elena said, “I was just checking your injury. You ran out of the clinic like nothing happened.”
Alexander’s expression darkened a few shades.
Alexander said, “I thought your mind was still on Gideon and Nicole.”
There he went again. Elena frowned.
Elena said, “Why are you so jealous? Maybe I shouldn’t call you Alexander anymore. I should give you a new
name:”
Alexander glanced at her.

Alexander said, “What name?”
Elena tilted her head slightly.
Elena said. “How about ‘Mr. Jealous?”
Alexander clearly wasn’t pleased.
Alexander said, “Change it. I don’t like that.”
Elena said, “Then what do you want?”
Alexander looked at her meaningfully. Alexander said, “You tell me.”
His gaze made her cheeks heat up.
She glanced toward the front seat, then wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned close, whispering two words into his ear.
Alexander’s slightly furrowed brows finally relaxed. Alexander said, “That’s better.”
Elena couldn’t help smiling.
Then she suddenly remembered something.
She had originally planned to ask him about what happened with Riona earlier that day, but before she could speak, the car had already driven into the estate.
Before getting out, Elena saw Walter and Evelyn standing at the entrance. She felt a slight sense of unease.
Elena said, “Your mom’s here too. What do we do?”
Alexander raised an eyebrow. Alexander said, “Call me babe, and I’ll handle it.”
Elena pinched him lightly.
Elena said, “Or I could tell Grandpa that you made me mad and that’s why I moved out.”
Alexander fell silent. The car came to a stop.
He stepped out first and reached back to help her down. Ryan followed with an umbrella. When they reached the entrance, Martha handed Elena a shawl.
After the rain, the temperature had dropped noticeably. Only then did Elena feel the chill.
She wrapped the shawl around herself and lowered her gaze slightly.
Elena said, “Grandpa. Mom.”
Walter smiled warmly.
Walter said, “Come inside. It’s cold out here.”

Walter went in first. Elena and Alexander followed, while Evelyn walked behind them, her expression still reserved.
After entering the living room, Elena sat beside Alexander.
Walter looked around the interior.
Walter said. “This is my first time seeing your place. It’s done very well. No wonder Alexander personally designed and supervised everything.”
Elena turned her head in surprise. She truly hadn’t known that. Walter then looked at her again.
Walter said, “So, have you cooled off these past few days?”
Elena didn’t expect him to bring it up so directly, and her cheeks flushed slightly.
Elena said, “Grandpa, we didn’t really fight. It was just a small disagreement…”
Walter chuckled.
Walter said, “I understand. There’s no such thing as a couple that doesn’t argue. Back when your grandmother and I were young, we’d argue all the time. Every time we fought, she’d insist on going back to her parents‘ house, and I’d have to go and coax her back.“”
Thinking of the past, Walter sighed softly, then added, “But arguing is one thing. Your situation is different now. You’re pregnant, and your parents‘ side isn’t around anymore. If you feel wronged, come to Grandpa. Don’t run off like that. What if something happened to you?”
He completely dismissed the existence of Richard and Catherine. Elena felt a wave of warmth in her heart.
Just as she was about to speak, Alexander suddenly said, “She’s not without family.”
Elena looked at him, confused.
She clearly remembered that Alexander disliked Richard and Catherine even more than she did.
So what did he mean by that?
Alexander held her hand and said calmly, “The Sterling family will recognize Elena as one of their own.”

both Elena and Alexander are stupid, they already knew and agreed to be open, honest and trust each other, but instead they repeated the same mistakes which made them suspicious of each other....
