Sham Marriage Quit, Real Heiress Strikes Back
Chapter 349 Settling the Debt
After Richard returned home, he told Camille everything.

For a long moment, Camille simply stood there, unable to process what she had just heard, as though the words themselves refused to settle into reality.
“You’re saying you gave Elena shares in the company?” she finally asked, her voice rising. “Dad, you’re joking, right?”
She genuinely felt like she must have misheard.
“I’m not joking.”
Richard’s face was dark, his tone carrying clear irritation.
“I thought that after you went back to the Sterling family, you’d at least be able to help the company a little. But it’s been this long, even the New Year has nearly passed, and you haven’t done a single useful thing. Am I supposed to just stand there and watch the Hart Group collapse?”
The company had been losing money for years.
At first, they had pinned all their hopes on Nathan, but then Nathan had been pushed out of the Hawthorne family, and everything fell apart from there.
Even now, even with Camille pregnant, the old man still refused to hand control of the Hawthorne Group to Nathan.
In other words, both of them were unreliable.
So why shouldn’t he turn to Elena?
Camille let out a cold laugh.
In the past, she had been afraid of Richard, but now that she had the Sterling family behind her, she no longer bothered to hide her defiance.
“You’ve really lost your mind,” she said bluntly. “After everything you did to Elena, you still think she’ll sincerely help the company?”
“At least she’s actually putting money on the table to save it. What about you?”
The more Richard spoke, the angrier he became, and his gaze shifted sharply toward Nathan.
“All you ever do is focus on your relationship. I don’t see even a trace of concern for the Hart family. You’ve even forgotten how well your mother treated you… Speaking of which, you two went to see her, and the next morning she died. What exactly did you do?”
Camille’s heart skipped.
A memory surfaced without warning, the image of Catherine’s finger twitching when she had gone back into the ward that day.

She had been so excited that she told Nathan immediately.
He had even gone with her to inform the doctor, and yet the next morning, they were told Catherine was
gone.
The thought lingered, unsettling.
She instinctively glanced at Nathan.
But his expression remained calm, completely composed, without a single crack.
Camille let out a silent scoff at herself.
How could she even think something like that? Nathan had been nothing but gentle with her these past months. There was no way he could have done anything like that.
“At the time, Camille noticed her mother’s hand move,” Nathan said evenly, his tone still warm. “We reported it to the doctor, and they said they would monitor her condition more closely.”
Then he looked at Richard.
“Dad, I understand you’re worried about the company, but Camille’s situation is complicated right now. You should try to be more understanding.”
Camille’s chest tightened.
In that moment, she felt that the only person in the world who truly understood her was Nathan.
“I am being understanding,” Richard said with a cold laugh. “That’s exactly why I’m not relying on her anymore. Elena has the ability, so I’ll deal with her directly.”
He waved his hand dismissively.
“That’s it. Whether you show up at tomorrow’s shareholders‘ meeting is up to you.”
Camille said nothing more, but her expression darkened.
Of course she would go.
Even if she had returned to the Sterling family, the Hart Group was still hers. There was no way she would let Elena take it away.
The next morning, Elena stepped out of her car and stood in front of the Hart Group building.
Sunlight reflected sharply off the glass exterior, almost blinding, and she tilted her head slightly to look up at it.
This was her first time here.
Even after being brought back to the Hart family, she had never once set foot inside. It wasn’t that she hadn’t been curious, but Richard and Catherine had never allowed it. In their eyes, her background made her “unsuitable,” and they were afraid that if employees found out they had such a daughter, it would

damage their reputation
And yet now, she stood here not as an outsider, but as the one holding the most power in the entire
company.
She didn’t care much for the Hart Group itself
But Camille wanted it, and Nathan had tripped her up more than once, both openly and in secret.
This was a debt worth collecting.
Elena walked into the building, only to be stopped immediately by a receptionist.
“Miss, who are you looking for?”
The woman gave her a quick once–over, clearly trying to assess her status.
Elena was just about to answer when Camille and Nathan walked in together.
“Miss Camille, you’re here.”
The receptionist’s attitude changed instantly, her smile turning overly attentive as she hurried over.
Camille cast a brief glance toward Elena, fully aware that the staff had no idea who she was.
“Is the company so loosely managed now,” she said casually, “that just anyone can walk in?”
The receptionist froze for a second before quickly understanding.
“Oh, I didn’t recognize her,” she said, forcing a laugh. “I’ll have her escorted out right away. You can head upstairs first.”
She personally led Camille and Nathan toward the chairman’s private elevator, her tone eager to please.
“Make sure she’s removed,” Camille added before stepping in. “Today’s the shareholders‘ meeting. We can’t afford any trouble.”
“Of course, of course.”
The elevator doors closed.

The receptionist immediately called over security and pointed toward Elena.
“There’s a shareholders‘ meeting today. Anyone unrelated needs to leave immediately.”
Two security guards stepped forward, blocking Elena’s path.
“Miss, please step outside.”
Elena didn’t bother arguing.
She simply looked at them and said calmly, “Go get Richard to come down.”
