“Oh my god, it’s nothing. Stop asking, Elena.”
Sophia immediately started rambling nervously.
“What could possibly happen? I’m already an adult, okay?”
The more she talked, the more obvious it became that she was trying to hide something.
Elena narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the girl sitting across from her
Sophia’s face was already so red it looked like it might burst into flames at any second.
And suddenly—
Elena had a vague idea of what was probably going on.
“Fine.”
She deliberately stopped pressing further.
“I won’t ask anymore. Just know your limits and be careful.”
Sophia immediately lowered her head and pretended to focus on eating again.
After lunch, Elena planned to drive Sophia home first.
But just as they walked outside the restaurant, they unexpectedly ran into Fiona Scott.
And beside her stood a tall blond man with blue eyes.
The two of them were chatting happily.
But it was obvious the man’s attention remained entirely fixed on Fiona.
The affection in his gaze was impossible to hide.
“What a coincidence.”
Fiona’s smile stiffened for a split second before she politely nodded toward them.
Sophia couldn’t even be bothered pretending to respond.
She immediately looped her arm through Elena’s and walked away.
Only after they were far enough did the blond man glance back curiously.
“Who were they?”
Fiona smiled faintly.

“Elena Sterling”
Her tone remained soft
“The one I told you about before.”
Realization crossed the man’s face instantly.
“So that’s her.”
Then his expression darkened slightly with indignation.
“She really is rude. You’ve suffered a lot because of her, haven’t you?”
“It’s okay.”
Fiona lowered her eyes gently.
A trace of bitterness slipped into her voice.
“Don’t feel sorry for me. Nobody’s really at fault for things like this.”
The man’s expression softened immediately.
“You’re too kind.”
Fiona smiled again before naturally linking her arm through his.
“You finally came all the way here. Didn’t I promise I’d treat you to dinner?”
She tilted her head playfully.

“The steak here tastes almost exactly like the restaurant we used to go to back when we studied in Eldoria. I think you’ll like it.”
Meanwhile, Elena drove Sophia back to her apartment building.
The moment they arrived downstairs, a bright red Ferrari parked by the entrance immediately caught their attention.
It belonged to Edmund Grayson.
He leaned casually against the car while smoking.
The moment he saw Elena’s car pull in, he extinguished the cigarette and walked over.
Sophia immediately stiffened in the passenger seat, clutching her purse tightly without moving.
Edmund walked over to the window and knocked lightly with gentlemanly restraint.
Elena lowered the window.
“Hey, Elena.”

He greeted her politely before shifting his gaze toward Sophia.
“Can we talk?”
Sophia pressed her lips together awkwardly.
Clearly, she didn’t want Elena worrying about her.
“Elena… I’ll talk to him for a bit. You should head home first.”
Even though Edmund didn’t truly love Sophia yet, Elena still trusted his character enough.
She nodded slowly before warning him anyway.
“Sophia’s still young. Be patient with her.”
Edmund nodded calmly.
“I know.”
He opened the passenger–side door himself.
Sophia finally stepped out of the car.
After leaving, Elena called Alexander while driving back.
“Edmund went to see Sophia. Should we go check on them?”
“Let them figure things out themselves.”
Alexander sounded calm.
“Don’t worry too much.”
Since he said so, Elena didn’t insist further.
By the time she arrived back at Kingsley Manor, Alexander had just gotten home too. [
She had a prenatal checkup scheduled for the next morning and needed proper rest.
After dinner, she went straight upstairs and climbed into bed.
Alexander even cleared his work schedule for the following day just to accompany her.
“After tomorrow’s appointment,” Elena said while resting her hand on her stomach, “we’ll be able to do the 4D ultrasound scan next month.”
Her eyes brightened slightly.
“I heard you can already see the baby’s face and little hands then.”
Alexander quietly wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

“I’ll go with you.”
Guilt still lingered heavily in his heart.
Since their marriage, the number of prenatal appointments he had personally accompanied her to was painfully small.
So he turned that guilt into action.
The next morning at the hospital, he practically treated Elena like fragile glass.
From the moment they stepped out of the car, he never once let go of her hand.
Elena almost felt like she had become some overly delicate porcelain doll.
But honestly-
she enjoyed being cared for by him like this.
Their appointment was under a VIP specialist consultation, so the examination process went extremely smoothly.
The baby was developing perfectly too.
By the time they walked out of the hospital, Elena was genuinely in a good mood.
Until-
they unexpectedly ran into Nathan and Camille Hart outside the OB–GYN department.
Nathan walked ahead.
Camille followed behind carrying her handbag.
“Nathan, wait for me…”
She was nearly jogging just to catch up to him.
Then Nathan suddenly stopped walking.
Camille instinctively thought he had finally slowed down to wait for her.
Her lips had just begun curving upward-
when she noticed Alexander and Elena standing ahead.
Her smile instantly froze.
r
Then, almost subconsciously, she wrapped both hands around Nathan’s arm possessively, like she was staking a claim.
“What a coincidence.”

Chapter 394 A Tence Encounter
Nathan wore a black casual suit today.
His hair had been cut back into the same clean buzz cut he used to have before.
Behind thin–framed glasses, he looked almost identical to the Nathan Elena once knew-
if not for the subtle abnormality in his right leg whenever he walked.
Nathan looked directly at Elena while greeting her.
His tone sounded calm.
Alexander merely glanced at him lazily.
The disdain in his eyes was obvious.
Even if Nathan had reclaimed Hawthorne Group-
in Alexander’s eyes, he still amounted to nothing.
As for Elena-
she couldn’t even be bothered looking at Nathan at all.
She simply acted as if he didn’t exist and continued walking away with Alexander.
Standing beside Nathan, Camille suddenly felt an icy chill crawl up her spine.
Goosebumps instantly rose across her skin.
