Chapter 50 Breaking Point
Nathan clenched his jaw. “Yes.”
“You two were never intimate?” Elena asked softly.
“Yes.” He nodded.
“Then what are these?”
Elena took out her phone and opened her photo gallery. One by one, she showed screenshots taken fr Camille’s account.
Charles was seated closest. He reached out and took the phone, studying the images carefully. Each ph had been angled to avoid showing the man’s full face.
But Charles recognized him immediately. The man in the pictures was his own grandson, Nathan.
And the captions were explicit enough to make his blood pressure spike. “Nathan, what the hell have yc dont?”
Elena let out a bitter smile. “The man in these pictures is you, isn’t he?”
Nathan’s eyes widened. He never expected Elena to have saved those screenshots, let alone present then in front of Charles.
If anyone was to blame, it was Camille. When they had been together, he had repeatedly warned her no post anything online. She had promised she wouldn’t, yet she secretly posted them anyway.
Camille felt a flicker of excitement. With things exposed like this, Nathan would finally admit their relationship, right?
She had deliberately played the victim in front of Richard and Catherine to push things this far.
“I’m sorry…”
After a long silence, Nathan finally spoke.
Under Camille’s hopeful gaze, he stepped forward and grabbed Elena’s hand. “I made a mistake that a lot of men make. I let myself get carried away. I thought our marriage had grown dull, and I did something stupid. It won’t happen again. Elena, please don’t be mad.”
Elena glanced at Camille’s pale face, then pulled her hand away with force.
The next second, Charles‘ cane came crashing down across Nathan’s back. Nathan gritted his teeth and dropped to one knee, taking the blow without resisting.
“I should beat some sense into you!” Charles roared, striking him again without mercy, Victor and Victoria could not stand it anymore. Instead of blaming Nathan, they turned on Elena.
“Elena, how could you push him like this? Charles is old. Why would you deliberately provoke him?”
The one who cheated was Nathan. The one being accused was her.
He shot Victoria a glare when he noticed the faint smugness on her face.
Victoria reluctantly stood up. “Divorce? Do you want the whole city laughing at us?”
Their reactions were exactly what Elena had expected. Of course they would not agree. The shares were still on the line. If this ended now, Nathan’s lie would collapse.
She had no intention of exposing him just yet. She wanted to see how long Camille could endure this.
“I’m overwhelmed right now.”
She pressed her fingers to her temple, feigning exhaustion. Ignoring Nathan, she turned to Charles. “Can I take some time away? I just need space to clear my head.”
As long as she was not insisting on divorce, Charles would agree to anything.
“Go home and rest. Don’t talk about divorce again. It’s bad luck. You did nothing wrong. The shameless ones are someone else.”
He stopped just short of saying Camille’s name out loud.
