Elena knew the truth.
Malcolm and Vivian had always wanted Camille back in their lives.
But Camille had always rejected them. Over time, their hope had turned into disappointment.
Camille hated when anyone brought them up.
"Why would I care about those two nobodies? So what if you're their biological daughter? I'm still the one they chose. If it weren't for your connection to the Kingsleys, do you really think Dad would even bother talking to you?"
Elena let out a small laugh.
"Well, lucky me for knowing the Kingsleys," she said lightly. "Why don't you try and do the same?"
Camille's face turned green.
Elena tilted her head slightly, a faint, provocative smile on her lips. "I'll be walking down the aisle wearing Everlove Heart, right next to Nathan. I'll toss the bouquet your way. Don't feel too bad, okay?"
She brushed past Camille's shoulder and headed downstairs, steps light.
Back in her room, Camille finally snapped.
She grabbed everything off the bed and threw it onto the floor.
"Bitch. Bitch!"
The image of Elena's smug face burned in her mind. She wanted to tear it apart.
There was no way she would just sit back and watch Nathan marry Elena.
At that wedding, she would prove her place. She would make sure everyone knew that Elena's title was fake.
She would see how Elena kept smiling then.
The weekend came. Only three days left until Elena's wedding with Alexander.
She met Chloe at a restaurant.
"Elena!"
Chloe rushed over and pulled her into a tight hug the moment she saw her.
"Three days till the wedding. How do you feel? Nervous?"
With her bright red short hair, Chloe leaned in close, wiggling her brows.
Elena laughed and pushed her away gently. "I'm okay, I guess."
She had barely met any of Alexander's family. But after dealing with Victor and Victoria, nothing really felt intimidating anymore.
Compared to the Kingsley wedding, she was actually more curious about the one Nathan was planning.
Over the past couple of days, Nathan had been updating her nonstop. Everything was rushed, so the dress was off the rack.
How was she supposed to explain this?
Was she really going to say she and Alexander had sex?
"You didn't already—"
Leave it to a best friend. One blush was all it took for Chloe to realize Elena was no longer as innocent as she claimed. Her eyes widened in exaggerated shock before she lunged forward and clapped a hand over Elena's mouth.
"Okay, you need to start talking," she whispered excitedly. "How was it? And be honest, who's better, him or that jerk Nathan?"
Elena refused to answer, her expression giving nothing away.
"Come on, Elena, just—"
Chloe suddenly stopped, clamped her mouth shut, and started signaling wildly with her eyes.
Elena noticed the restaurant had gone quieter. She followed Chloe's gaze toward the staircase.
A group was coming down.
At the front was Alexander, dressed in his usual black shirt and perfectly tailored black pants, his suit jacket draped casually over his arm.
Beside him were three men who looked like business partners.
And next to him stood a woman in a pink tweed suit, her curled hair framing her face, effortlessly elegant.
