Sham Marriage Quit Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 91

"Okay."

Elena stepped out of the car.

She called a rideshare back to the Hart villa. Thinking about the call Alexander had taken earlier, a strange bitterness lingered in her chest.

Seriously.

Why was she even thinking about whatever was going on between him and that woman?

What she had with Alexander had started because of the will in the first place. When you stripped it down, it was nothing more than mutual benefit.

The car stopped outside the Hart villa.

Elena walked in. As she turned the corner, the scene ahead came into view.

Camille was wrapped tightly around Nathan's waist.

Nathan, on the other hand, looked visibly uncomfortable, his whole body tense. "Camille, let go. If Elena sees this, it's going to be a problem."

"You're about to marry Elena, and you won't even let me hug you for a second?"

Camille's eyes filled with tears.

"I already agreed to let you go through with the wedding with her!"

Nathan hesitated, then reluctantly placed a hand on her shoulder. "Alright, alright. I know this is hard on you. I'm doing this for you, for us, for our future."

"I know," Camille said softly, her voice gentle and understanding. "You've been stuck in that fake marriage with Elena for five years. That couldn't have been easy."

The two of them leaned into each other, all warmth and affection.

If Elena hadn't noticed the small voice recorder clenched in Camille's hand, she might actually have believed the act.

Once Camille had gathered enough evidence, Elena deliberately cleared her throat, making it sound like she had just arrived.

Nathan jumped like he had been caught red-handed and shoved Camille away. She wasn't prepared for it and fell hard onto the ground, her palm scraping against the pavement.

"What are you two doing out here?"

Nathan reacted fast.

"I brought you a late-night snack. Mom was talking about having Camille as a bridesmaid, so we were just going over some wedding details."

Before Elena could press further, he stepped forward and took her hand. "Why are you just getting back now? Work's been that busy?"

"Yeah, it's been a lot."

Elena watched them like she was watching a show, amused by how smoothly they played their roles.

Nathan lightly pinched her nose. "You're working way too hard. Why don't you just quit? I'll take care of you."

Camille clenched her jaw so hard it almost hurt. She let out a quiet scoff and turned to leave.

Elena smiled faintly. "Look at that, you upset her."

"Don't say things like that. You're the only one in my heart. Whatever she thinks has nothing to do with me."

She feels distant. I want to take the chance to get closer to her, but she doesn't give me anything to hold on to.

"So in your world, a guy cheats, and a late-night snack makes everything okay?"

Elena asked, her tone light but cutting.

"Guess you're pretty forgiving."

"I just don't like seeing you use this to make things harder for him. The Hawthorne family and the Hart family are tied together. At least show some respect for both sides."

"If you hadn't been shameless enough to go after Nathan, he wouldn't have to show up this late trying to smooth things over with me."

Elena shot back without hesitation.

Camille's face flushed red. "If it weren't for you, Nathan and I would be the ones together!"

She's the one who took everything from me, and now she's trying to turn it around and blame me?

"You sure about that? If he really loved you, why didn't he marry you back then? Why end up with me instead?"

Elena's words landed clean and sharp.

Camille felt like something clenched tight around her chest, squeezing until she could barely breathe.

She glared at Elena.

Elena picked up the now-cold takeout from the table and dropped it straight into the trash.

Three days later, luxury cars lined up outside Cloudrest Hotel.
