Remington immediately let out a harsh bark of laughter. "What a beautiful lie. 'Unintentional.' 'Terrified for her child.' How touching. Tell me, while her biological daughter was lying in a hospital bed fighting for her life, why was she out running ragged to protect the imposter who put her there? Over in Tranquil Meadows, Colin Porter 'unintentionally' put Nelson Madden in a coma, and right on cue, Eartha here 'unintentionally' puts my grandmother in the hospital. What a beautifully orchestrated act by a treacherous father and daughter."
Looking utterly innocent and frantic, Eartha pleaded her case.
"How can you say that, Remington? We've been sick with worry over Liz too! Have we missed a single day at the hospital? It's you who refuses to let us see her! As for your grandmother collapsing, I swear to God I didn't see it coming. Zion City has been buzzing with rumors for days. I naturally assumed she already knew everything..."
Remington had absolutely zero patience for her excuses. With a cold sneer, he cut her off sharply.
"I'm not here for your explanations, and I'm definitely not here to listen to your pathetic lies. You put my grandmother in a hospital bed, and now you are going to pay the price!"
His tone was bone-chillingly lethal. Conrad and Eartha's faces simultaneously drained of color, a deep sense of dread sinking into their stomachs.
"What do you think you're going to do?! Are you threatening to assault us in our own home?!" Conrad demanded, trying to project a confidence he didn't feel as the cold panic washed over him.
He refused to believe Remington would actually cross that line.
No matter how much power the Dashiell family wielded in Zion City, Conrad wasn't exactly a nobody.
Would Remington seriously dare to storm his house in broad daylight and resort to violence?
Remington didn't even acknowledge Conrad's hollow bravado. Instead, he stared down Eartha with a predatory smirk.
"You were certainly acting like quite the tyrant when you stormed into my family's estate. Strange how you've suddenly transformed into a cowering victim the second the tables turn."
Eartha frowned, maintaining her perfectly indignant facade.
"You are completely misunderstanding the situation, Remington. Yes, I admit my actions were impulsive and poorly planned, but I never intended to harm Fiona."
She defended herself repeatedly, then added with a tone of heavy sincerity.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
