"When have I ever gone back on my word with you? Come on, let's head back and pick something out right now," Nelson said loudly.
Lizetta nodded, supporting him as they walked out.
After a few steps, Nelson turned to her.
"If it's fake, just throw it away. Where are you trying to put it?"
Lizetta paused, her hand hovering over the pocket of her skirt.
She looked at him and blinked. "Even if it's fake, it's still pretty..."
But Nelson gave a faint, knowing smile. "I recall you having sensitive skin. Wearing cheap metals usually gives you an allergic reaction. If you can't bear to throw it away, give it to me. I'll hold onto it for you."
Seeing the sheer insistence in his eyes, she pressed her lips together and dropped the ring into his open palm.
Nelson closed his fist over it and smiled.
"Let's go."
She didn't say another word, and the group headed toward the elevators together.
Following behind them, Remington had clearly seen and heard the entire exchange.
He sighed inwardly, feeling entirely powerless.
Jerome, walking beside him, patted his shoulder just before they stepped into the elevator.
"What goes around comes around, Mr. Dashiell."
When they reached the ground floor of the Madden Group building, a swarm of reporters was still crowding the entrance.
The moment the Madden family stepped out, they rushed forward.
Earlier, during the meeting, the Porter family's disgraceful behavior had been so shocking that the press had been too busy cornering them.
"Did Ms. Madden really grow up under Fiona Dashiell's care? Does that make her like a sister to you?"
...
Remington was cornered on the steps.
With no bodyguards around him, Lizetta instinctively rolled down her car window when she saw the situation.
Just as she was about to tell her own guards to go help him, she saw the man standing on the steps.
Dressed in a perfectly tailored dark gray suit, he stood tall. The sunlight caught the sharp angles of his brow, making his profound gaze look even more timeless.
His eyes locked onto hers, suddenly as gentle as a flowing spring stream. His lips parted, and he spoke.
"Ms. Madden is the love of my life. Our relationship is very simple—I am currently pursuing her, and she is the one I am pursuing."

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
