Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1170

Lizetta was speechless.

She knew exactly which divorced man he and her grandfather were talking about.

Feeling a bit thoroughly called out, she mumbled.

"If I get married again, I'll be a divorcée too..."

In other words, neither she nor Remington had any right to judge the other.

Jerome looked at her. "Grandpa just can't bear to let you go. He's incredibly protective of you. But honestly, his stance is softening."

If the old man was truly unyielding, he never would have allowed Remington to step foot in Tranquil Meadows in the first place.

The Madden family was currently the center of a massive media storm. Remington showing up now guaranteed he would be photographed.

His relationship with Lizetta was bound to be exposed. Did Nelson not anticipate that?

By allowing him to appear at the Madden Group, Nelson had subconsciously already prepared himself to accept it.

Lizetta's eyes lit up. "Really? He's not mad that I chose him again? What did he tell you?"

Seeing the visible relief wash over her, Jerome laughed.

"Worried about him, are we? Afraid Grandpa is going to make his life miserable? Relax. Making him work for it a little is good for him. Consider this Grandpa's way of testing how genuine his feelings really are. If he loses his temper or gets impatient, then Grandpa has every right to reject him. Does he really think he can just waltz in and take our family's priceless treasure without breaking a sweat?"

A faint blush crept across her cheeks.

"I get it, I get it. I wasn't worried about him."

Jerome had only elaborated because he didn't want her holding a grudge against Nelson over this whole ordeal.

Seeing her get embarrassed, he smoothly changed the subject.

He sighed. "I don't know her that well. We just go way back, and I owe her. She ran into some trouble recently and asked me for a favor, that's all."

But Lizetta's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Owe her? Sounds to me like you owe her a romantic debt. You'd better pay up soon."

She wasn't just teasing him for the sake of it; she had known him long enough to see through him.

He appeared gentle and easygoing, but he maintained strict boundaries with people, especially women.

For him to admit he owed a woman a debt meant things weren't simple.

Besides, with all this owing back and forth between a man and a woman, it was only a matter of time before sparks flew.

Jerome wanted to explain further, but meeting her sly gaze, he figured it was pointless.

Chatting as they went, the two made their way downstairs. Suddenly, a chaotic commotion erupted out in the courtyard.
