Lizetta Gardenia and Jerome Madden exchanged a glance before Jerome spoke up.

"I'll go out and take a look."

Lizetta was worried. She didn't want the commotion to wake Mrs. Bernice Madden, who had just fallen asleep, or disturb Grandpa Nelson.

Although the two elders were currently fine, constant stress and noise would eventually take a toll on their health.

"I'll come with you," she said.

Jerome didn't argue and simply nodded.

They were at the Madden estate, surrounded by their own people, so there wouldn't be any real danger.

He and Lizetta stepped out of the foyer and walked into the outer courtyard. With a single glance toward the main gates, they spotted several security guards engaged in a heated argument with someone.

Upon closer inspection, the man was none other than Conrad West.

Conrad had clearly spotted Lizetta as well. He furrowed his brows and immediately shouted in their direction.

"Liz! It's me, your father!"

Lizetta didn't want him screaming like a lunatic and alerting her grandparents, but it was obvious the security guards didn't dare use physical force on him.

She quickened her pace, her expression turning icy as she glared at Conrad.

"What are you doing here?"

"Liz, tell them to get out of my way first!"

Conrad frowned, gesturing toward the guards blocking his path.

Lizetta let out a dry laugh. "Why should I do that?"

"So I can come inside and talk to you, of course. I really have a lot to say. Besides, this is my home too. What do they think they're doing, blocking my way?"

Lizetta's lips curled into a mocking smile as she looked at him with pure disdain.
