She blinked blankly, taking two full seconds to process the information before her eyes flew wide open.

Panicking, she wrapped the blanket tightly around herself and scrambled to hop off the bed.

“I'm dead! Didn't I tell you to set the alarm for 5:30? Why didn't you set it!”

She had planned to wake up at five and sneak back into her room.

That way, her grandfather would have been none the wiser about her midnight escapade.

How on earth was it 6:40?

Wasn't she completely screwed now?

Her grandparents were definitely awake by now. They might even be getting ready to leave.

She practically lunged out of bed, intending to sprint to the bathroom.

But the very first step she took, her legs gave out entirely, sending her pitching forward.

It was as if he had been anticipating it. He smoothly reached out and caught her securely in his arms.

The next second, he scooped her up, a laugh rumbling in his chest.

“Don't panic. Panicking won't fix it now.”

“How can I not panic?! This is all your fault!” If she hadn't let him seduce her into sneaking out, none of this would have happened.

He carried her into the bathroom, setting her down gently on the vanity counter, before cupping her face in his hands.

“Do you really view me as some illicit lover? You think we're having a dirty affair?”

She blinked. “What do you mean?”

He flicked her forehead lightly.

“Wash up and come out when you're done.”

With that, he turned and left the bathroom, leaving her completely bewildered.

But time was ticking, so she pushed the confusion aside.

Glancing around, she didn't see anything she could wear. Then she remembered that in his feverish rush last night, he had completely ruined two pieces of her clothing. They were unwearable.

Just as a knot of anxiety tightened in her chest, the bathroom door opened again.

He strode in holding a stack of fresh clothes. Resting neatly on top of an elegant black women's suit were two delicate pieces of lacy lingerie, impossible to miss.

Her eyes lit up, but he just raised a teasing brow.
