Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1314

Nathan's expression darkened. He opened his mouth to speak again, but Remington's gaze cut past Lizetta to meet his.

"What are you doing here?" Remington's voice was frigid.

Nathan hadn't even stepped fully into the room before he was hit with a wave of utter hostility.

He furrowed his brow. "I am your father! My grandson is found alive. Something this massive happens, and I, his grandfather, am the absolute last to know. You're asking me why I'm here?"

Nathan had arrived at the hospital practically simmering with rage.

True, he had been out of the country on a business trip for the past two weeks and wasn't in Zion City.

But he was Joy's grandfather. His grandson had survived, had been kidnapped, and the family had been turned upside down, yet he hadn't heard a single word about it.

Remington hadn't told him. It wasn't until last night, when he was on a call with Timothy Temple's father and the older man congratulated him on his family's reunion, that Nathan finally found out.

He had taken an overnight flight back. Without even stopping at home, he had rushed straight to the hospital, exhausted and anxious.

Only to be greeted with this.

"It looks like you're here to pick a fight," Remington replied coldly.

Nathan's face turned an ugly shade of red, his chest heaving with suppressed anger.

Seeing the tension thickening to an unbearable degree, Joseph quickly stood up to intervene.

"Dad, Remington took a bullet yesterday saving Joy. It's pretty serious. Liz was just checking his wound. You misunderstood her."

Joseph's explanation did little to douse Nathan's anger.

He walked into the room, stepping up to the sofa with genuine concern in his eyes as he looked at Remington's back.

Despite the tension between them and the fact that Remington seemed to enjoy making him angry, Nathan was still his father. He couldn't help but worry about his highly successful, pride-inducing son.

Remington, however, wasn't buying it. He didn't even look at Nathan, keeping his gaze soft as it rested on Lizetta.

"Don't worry," Remington murmured to her. "I told you it didn't tear open again."

Lizetta inspected it carefully. Although there was a little blood on the bandage, it seemed like normal seepage. Relaxing slightly, she adjusted his hospital gown and buttoned it up.

"It's a gunshot wound," she chided gently. "It's not going to heal overnight. You really need to take this seriously."

As she fastened his buttons, Remington looked down at her with a soft smile, promising he would rest properly.
