He looked deadly serious, his eyes swimming with desperate remorse.

He had fully expected Jerome to stop him, but instead, Jerome sat back and arched a brow, looking thoroughly entertained.

"Why stop? Keep going. Make it sound a bit more tragic, maybe I'll actually believe you."

Conrad's pathetic facade nearly cracked, but he was in too deep to back down now.

He took a breath and forced the words out.

"I, Conrad West, swear that I genuinely want to love my only daughter, Lizetta, and make amends. I will give her all the love she was denied. If I'm lying, may lightning strike me down, and may I die a terrible death!"

Internally, he sneered. It wasn't like lightning was actually going to strike him inside an office building.

Jerome nodded as if convinced. Just as Conrad lowered his hand, Jerome smiled.

"Alright. Since you're being so incredibly sincere, I'll give you a chance."

Conrad's eyes gleamed with raw relief and triumph.

But a second later, Jerome slid a corporate document across the desk toward him.

"Sign this transfer agreement, and I'll pretend to believe your little speech and have someone drive you to see her."

Jerome tapped the document dismissively.

Conrad looked down at the paperwork, and his vision instantly went black. His throat constricted, leaving him completely speechless.

It was a share transfer agreement, explicitly stating that he would voluntarily transfer all his six percent holdings in the Madden Group to his daughter, Lizetta, effective immediately.

Jerome held out a sleek pen, but Conrad refused to take it.

"Your ulterior motives are practically slapping me in the face. It's a miracle you can even keep up the act."

Conrad stiffened, his brows knitting together in forced indignation.

"I'm telling the truth, and it's all for Lizetta's sake. I'm her biological father, why wouldn't I protect her? I know that if I leave the company, Lizetta's heart isn't even in the corporate world; she only wants to return to the stage. Without me, you would have zero checks and balances in the company. The Madden Group would become your absolute dictatorship! So, for her sake, I have to endure this humiliation and stay!"

He slammed his hand on the desk and stood up, trying to look righteous.

"I absolutely will not sign this agreement!"

He spun on his heel and stormed toward the door. Jerome stared at his retreating back, finding it absolutely hilarious.

Conrad looked as if he was terrified that if he walked any slower, Jerome would physically force the pen into his hand and make him sign!
