Quinn answered without skipping a beat, "Over my dead body!"

Raymond's dark eyes caught her reflection in the rearview mirror, a faint glimmer of amusement flashing in them.

After breakfast, they returned to the hospital.

Quinn kissed her son goodbye. "Be a good boy. Listen to Lydia and Ray today, okay? Mommy has to go take care of some things."

The preliminaries for the Lumina Couture Competition were the day after tomorrow, and the launch ceremony was tomorrow. She needed to prepare.

Leo was a very understanding child. He knew she had to work and didn't make a fuss.

"Bye-bye, Mommy!"

"Take good care of him."

After leaving instructions for Raymond and Lydia, she left the room.

Back at the office, Lillian Quincy instructed her assistant, "The Lumina Couture Competition starts the day after tomorrow. Please book a hotel near the venue for me."

"Understood."

Lillian intended to meet with Quinn privately. She was about to have her assistant make the call when she heard the girl chattering.

"Ms. Quincy, I heard some juicy gossip at the registration site last time."

Her assistant's eyes sparkled at the mention of drama.

"You know how Mr. Hayes has always been super close to Vivienne? I always assumed she was either his girlfriend or his fiancée."

Without waiting to see if Lillian actually cared, she plowed on.

"But guess what? His actual wife—is Quinn Yates."

Afraid her boss wouldn't remember the name, she elaborated, "The woman who came in the other day, the one you asked me to look into."

"You were reviewing her portfolio just two days ago."

Startled, she asked, "Ms. Quincy, did you say something?"

Lillian's voice was frosty. "Put out an announcement. Whoever takes first place in the Lumina Couture Competition will become my personal apprentice."

It took a moment for the assistant's brain to process the magnitude of the statement.

"Yes, ma'am."

Lillian walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows and stared down at the traffic below, her face set in stone.

She told her assistant to release that statement in the hopes that it would wake Quinn up.

She couldn't let the girl waste any more of her time and energy on a man.

Especially when that man was a worthless piece of trash.

She was willing to give her a chance, but it all depended on how Quinn performed in the competition.

She just hoped the girl could prioritize what truly mattered, stop tearing herself apart over a toxic romance, and throw everything she had into her career.
