"Are you telling me the club's security cameras are all broken?"
Dante Hayes radiated an oppressive, terrifying aura. The manager, sweating profusely, braced himself and explained.
"Mr. Hayes, it's terrible timing. The club's main control panel burned out, and the circuits shorted. No footage was saved. We've already called a repair crew."
Dante curved his lips into a cold, chilling smile.
"Terrible timing indeed!"
The person who ambushed him hadn't held back. A dull ache still throbbed across his back.
He had never suffered such a loss before. He was determined to drag the assailant out of the shadows and show them exactly what happened when they messed with the wrong man.
And now, the club was telling him the cameras were down and nothing could be traced?!
How could he not be furious?
"The moment I get attacked, your entire surveillance system conveniently fails? Do you think I'm an idiot?!"
Dante's temper flared. He swept his arm violently across the table, sending glasses and bottles crashing to the floor. Liquor and shattered glass splattered everywhere.
"Dante, don't be mad. You need to get to the hospital and have that wound looked at," Vivienne Ambrose said, her face full of concern, remembering his earlier expressions of pain.
"She's right. If the cameras are down, we'll just find another way to track them."
Dante ignored the others, his sharp, ruthless gaze fixed on the manager.
"Have the full inspection report on my desk first thing tomorrow morning. Don't even think about trying to cover this up!"
He stood up, turning his head to shoot a dangerously narrowed glare at the man. "If I find out this was deliberate, the Hayes family will cut all ties with your club. You can forget about ever doing business in Riverton again!"
Terrified, the manager nodded frantically, not daring to argue.
Did Dante come looking for her after he left?
And kissed her?
Did she really love that man so much? After everything he had done to hurt her, she still let him touch her?!
Resentment filled his chest. Raymond stood there for a long time, letting out a heavy breath.
Just then, she kicked her legs, pushing the hem of her pajama pants up and exposing a stretch of smooth, luminous skin.
She was fast asleep, utterly oblivious, but the sight made his heart skip a beat and his throat bob.
Pushing down the sudden rush of heat, he gently tugged the blanket from her grasp and draped it over her, tucking it in right down to her toes. Only then did he walk over to the sofa and lie down.
Early the next morning, Quinn was jolted awake by her alarm. She sat up, stretching and stifling a yawn, only to freeze with wide eyes when she spotted the man on the sofa.
