Quinn had never been the type to shy away from hard work. Even with a moving crew on hand, she couldn't just stand around and watch.
She finished sealing a large storage bin and prepared to haul it outside.
Just as she reached the small moving truck, Vivienne appeared outside the studio, arm-in-arm with Yasmine Yates.
Their eyes swept over the scattered boxes and storage bins, their lips curling into mocking, half-smirks.
Looking every bit the entitled new tenant arriving for an inspection, Vivienne stepped forward and smiled at Yasmine. "Quinn, make sure you pack up everything nicely. We're in the same industry, after all. If you leave behind any sketches or plans, I really don't want to deal with nasty rumors about me stealing your designs or leaking your trade secrets."
Quinn shot her an icy glare before instructing a passing mover to be careful, blatantly ignoring the pair.
Yasmine let out a soft laugh and strutted forward arrogantly.
"Quinn, you break your back every day running this little studio. What's the point? You barely make a dime."
"Could it be that you're terrified Dante will cut off your allowance after the divorce, so you're desperately trying to build a nest egg?"
Yasmine put on a fake mask of sisterly concern.
"How about I go home and put in a good word with Dad? Maybe he can squeeze you into The Yates Family company. It would certainly look a lot better than whatever this is."
Quinn scoffed coldly. "You're at the company, alright, but have you actually made a single contribution to The Yates Family in the last two years?"
"Didn't I hear that a project you brought in recently cost the company tens of millions of dollars, and Dad completely lost his mind at you?"
Having her incompetence exposed so publicly made Yasmine flush with rage. "Even if I made a mistake, Dad still kept me around because he expects great things from me. Unlike some people who were treated like trash from birth and have to resort to peddling crafts just to survive!"
"What's wrong with making an honest living? It's infinitely better than wasting space at the company, coasting on the family name while ruining everything you touch."
Quinn fired back without hesitation. "Yasmine, don't talk to me about saving face. True respect comes from competence, not leeching off a title you didn't earn."
Hearing this, Vivienne immediately slipped back into her sweet-girl persona.
"Quinn, there's no need to be so cruel. Yasmine was just worried about you working yourself into the ground."
