Years of navigating the cutthroat corporate world made Dante ruthless and endlessly suspicious.

Quinn called the bodyguard Ray, and that particular man happened to share the same name.

Dante had solid intel that the man had returned to Riverton, yet his operatives had completely failed to track his movements.

Could he have concealed his identity to stay by Quinn's side?

If that were true, the man was horrifyingly calculating.

Frowning, Dante stared out at the glittering skyline before pinching the bridge of his nose.

Hopefully, he was just overthinking it.

Frankly, he much preferred the idea that the guy was just a standard hired muscle.

Because given that man's status and power, even Dante would have to tread carefully.

Having someone like that hovering around Quinn gave him a suffocating sense of impending threat.

Shoving down his turbulent emotions, Dante sat back at his desk and dove into his workload.

After signing off on several documents, his phone buzzed with a call from his father.

"Dante, how are you planning to handle the celebration banquet for the new Hayes Group IPO?"

His father had mentioned this a few days ago, and after turning it over in his mind, Dante had his answer ready.

"We'll host it at Belvedere Gardens."

Mr. Hayes sounded puzzled. "Why not the family estate? It's much larger and better suited for an event like this."

Dante offered a calculated excuse. "Successful executives need to project an image of domestic bliss. Doing it this way ensures the IPO goes off without a hitch."

In truth, his real motive was that hosting the party at Belvedere Gardens would force Quinn to move back home early. As the current Mrs. Hayes, she couldn't simply disappear from the public eye.

They couldn't keep living apart like this. Not only did it spark vicious rumors, but it was also actively pushing them further apart.

He needed to mend their relationship.

"Fair enough," Mr. Hayes agreed. "I'll draft the guest list. Just make sure you give Quinn a heads-up."

"I will."

Tomorrow was Quinn's birthday, so Dante cleared his entire schedule, pushing a morning acquisition meeting and an afternoon financial interview.

Silas reminded him, "Mr. Hayes, Mr. Cavendish has already confirmed this meeting time three times..."

"Push it to Friday."
