When Quinn finally returned, Tara stepped forward with a smile and grabbed her hand.
"Did you make things clear with him?"
"Yeah."
Tara glanced over at Dante, who was shrouded in a heavy aura of gloom a short distance away, and felt he entirely deserved it.
How did the saying go again? —
Too little, too late!
"Quinn, this table isn't great. Let's switch to the one with the killer view!"
Tara pointed toward the grand terrace around the corner. "You can see the entirety of The Azure River from there. I checked earlier—the cruise ships lit up at night look absolutely stunning!"
In truth, she just didn't want Quinn to be nauseated by the sight of Dante and his over-the-top birthday setup.
Quinn nodded. "Let's head over there, then."
The group happily made their way to the corner table, with Raymond trailing at the back.
Out of the corner of his eye, he seemed to cast a brief, cool glance toward Dante.
With Quinn gone, Dante's side of the restaurant felt exceptionally bleak.
The waiter stood nearby, looking terribly awkward. "Sir, should we still serve the food?"
"No need."
Even though Quinn had rejected him and his mood was abysmal, it didn't strip him of his manners and breeding.
"This is your tip. Thank you for your hard work tonight."
He then called over the violinist and paid his fee via his phone.
"Even though you didn't play tonight, I took up your time, so it's only right I pay you."
Both men bowed to him in gratitude. "Thank you, sir!"
Once that was done, Dante picked up the un-gifted present from the table and stood up.
