"Who knew that even now, being a mother myself, I'd still miss her so much."

When she spoke of her mother, a rare vulnerability surfaced in Quinn, one she almost never showed to the world.

Raymond looked at her, his eyes dark, at a loss for how to comfort her.

Besides, right now, as she stood there fiercely mourning her mother, any words of comfort would be entirely useless.

The only thing he could do was quietly stay by her side.

After a long time, Quinn finally calmed down and rubbed her sore, swollen eyes. "Alright, enough about that. Let's go downstairs and find Tara and the others."

Raymond nodded and followed her into the elevator.

When they reached the first floor, Quinn immediately spotted her son in the distance, clutching a Transformer, his little face beaming with joy.

Just as a woman's closet was always missing one new dress, a child's toy chest was always missing one new toy.

No kid could resist a new toy. The little guy hugged the action figure and ran toward them excitedly.

"Mommy!"

"Mr. Raymond!"

Quinn glanced at the price tag. Such a small toy, yet it cost hundreds of dollars.

"That's too expensive, Tara. Seriously, don't buy him anything else from now on."

"It's no big deal. This just gives me more motivation to make money!" Tara laughed effortlessly, then added, "My assistant is coming to pick me up. The car's already parked outside, so you guys don't have to worry about driving me home later."

Tara lived on the south side of the city, quite a distance from Lunas Crest. She didn't want Quinn driving all the way out there and back.

Before leaving, Tara leaned in close to Quinn's ear and whispered, "I just messaged the restaurant owner to settle the bill, but he said Dante already paid for it in advance."

Quinn gave a faint nod, saying nothing.

After Tara left, Quinn and her group headed to the underground parking garage. From a distance, they saw Dante leaning against his Maybach, a lit cigarette between his fingers.

Quinn froze slightly. When did he start smoking?

Raymond's dark, penetrating gaze shifted to Dante as well. They had been dining upstairs for so long; he couldn't believe Dante had been waiting down here this entire time.

Seeing them, Dante crushed the cigarette under his shoe and walked over.
