A freezing laugh tore from his throat. "Fine. Very well."

The words sounded as if they had been forcefully ground through his teeth.

"You want this to be civil, Quinn? You want to walk away flawlessly, take your cut of the money, and start a shiny new life?"

Dante looked down at her, every word dripping with ice and pure vengeance.

"I'll make sure you get none of it."

"Since you're so hellbent on letting the lawyers do the talking, we'll see exactly who the law sides with!"

Quinn shuddered. She knew exactly what Dante was capable of.

"What are you going to do?"

"What am I going to do?" Dante sneered darkly, his grip on her wrist tightening like a vice. "Did you really think you could use your little tricks to secretly get a divorce and toss me aside? Do you think I'm a pushover?!"

Quinn sucked in a sharp breath as pain flared through her arm.

At that moment, Raymond strode forward. His hand clamped around Dante's wrist like an iron claw, forcefully extracting Quinn's hand from his grasp.

"Mr. Hayes, since you are divorced, I suggest you move on. Making this ugly won't do you any favors."

Raymond's deep voice carried a distinct, heavy warning.

"Shut up!" Dante barked. "You're nothing but a home-wrecker. Do you really think just because we're divorced, a lowly thug like you can take my place? In your dreams!"

He then snapped his gaze to Quinn. "No one knows who he really is or what his agenda is. You'd better stay the hell away from him."

A brief flicker of tension crossed Raymond's eyes, but it was quickly masked by his icy composure.

"My status is merely that of a humble bodyguard. Naturally, I can't compete with someone like you, Mr. Hayes."

Seeing Dante preparing to lash out at Raymond again, Quinn gently reached out and stroked her son's hair. "Sweetheart, the door's open. Go inside and find Lydia."

The little boy looked at her, then glanced at Dante's terrifying expression. Clearly worried, he shook his head.

"No."

"Be a good boy. Mom is fine. Besides, Ray is here to protect me, right?"

Leo looked up at the tall, stoic Raymond. From the moment this man had appeared and saved him from nearly falling off the balcony, the boy had formed an unconditional trust in him.

As long as Raymond was around, Leo felt an inexplicable sense of absolute safety.
