Quinn had asked Dante out for lunch.

Truthfully, she hadn't been entirely sure he would even show up.

Given the magnitude of tomorrow's IPO, his schedule should have been packed tight.

Plus, considering how furious he had been, blowing her off would have been perfectly justified.

Yet, the moment she dialed his number, he answered within seconds.

When she mentioned meeting for lunch to talk things out, he simply replied with a gravelly, "Send me the location," before hanging up.

Knowing how violently Dante guarded his time, especially during business hours, she picked a high-end restaurant just blocks away from the Hayes Group headquarters.

After texting him the details, she sat alone at the table, waiting in silence.

Her pulse thrummed with a nervous edge.

She was a sharp speaker, but going toe-to-toe with Dante Hayes in a negotiation was corporate suicide.

Ten minutes later, she glanced up and saw him striding through the restaurant doors.

The light grey knit polo softened his sharp features, adding a layer of relaxed charm to his naturally commanding and breathtakingly handsome presence.

The second he stepped inside, his dark, predatory gaze locked onto her. His expression was cool and impenetrable, betraying zero emotion.

It was as if his explosive, terrifying outburst the other night had just been a fever dream she had fabricated.

He slid into the seat across from her, leaning back against the chair with an aggressive, calculating stare.

"What did you want to discuss?"

Internally, he was thrilled she had reached out, but he was a master at compartmentalizing, making his true feelings completely unreadable.

Quinn pushed the menu toward him while scanning the digital ordering code with her phone.

"Look over the menu. Let's order first."

He nodded, ordering two of the restaurant's signature dishes, followed by two of Quinn's absolute favorites.

"Alright, talk."

Quinn dropped the pleasantries. "The Hayes Group goes public tomorrow. I imagine you need me at the bell-ringing ceremony to keep up appearances."

A cruel smirk twisted his lips. "Obviously. You're my wife. Who else would stand beside me?"
