"And in just a few days, Quinn, you've checked off two of them."
"You honestly think I'm scared of your little ultimatum?"
Quinn stiffened. She had braced herself for a fight, but his terrifying calm was wildly unsettling.
"Are you really willing to burn your own company to the ground?"
"If I don't go, the last two years of your meticulous planning go straight down the drain."
"You'd better think long and hard about whether you can stomach that fallout."
Dante scoffed, standing up from his seat. He marched around the table and brutally yanked her to her feet.
There wasn't an ounce of gentlemanly restraint left in him.
His large hand clamped around her jaw, forcing her to look up into his furious eyes.
"I am not as fragile as you think, Quinn. Even if you pull a disappearing act tomorrow, I can stabilize that stock price in my sleep."
"You, on the other hand, only dragged me out here because you know you'd be slaughtered in court."
"Too bad your pathetic little gamble blew up in your face."
"Your threats mean absolutely nothing to me."
"So drop the act and crawl back to where you belong. Do that, and I'll pretend this whole mess never happened."
The grip on her jaw was suffocatingly tight, but the sheer humiliation of his words burned even worse.
She viciously slapped his hand away.
"If you want a bloodbath in court, fine. I'll see you in front of the judge."
"But if you think I'm ever coming back to you, you're out of your mind!"
She snatched her purse off the chair and spun on her heel to walk out.
She didn't even make it a single step before a vice-like grip locked onto her arm.
She stumbled backward, crashing violently against Dante's rock-hard chest.
Since it was still early, the restaurant was practically empty, and the few diners paid them no mind.
