The Hospital, VIP Ward.
Vivienne Ambrose lay on her side in the hospital bed, her face as pale as paper. Her eyes were red-rimmed, giving her an aura of fragile sickness.
Dante had fully intended to go to the office this morning, but a call from the hospital made him change his plans at the last minute.
Standing outside the ward, Dante asked the attending physician, "What happened?"
"Ms. Ambrose shifted in bed and accidentally reopened some of her stitches," the doctor explained. "She has a very low tolerance for pain and hasn't stopped crying. She needs emotional support, which is why the nurses called you."
Dante nodded and pushed open the door.
Hearing the door open, Vivienne looked up, tears shimmering in her eyes.
"Dante, you're finally here... When I woke up this morning, I was so thirsty. I tried to roll over to grab a glass of water, but I accidentally tore my stitches."
"I didn't want to interrupt your work, but I missed you so much. When the nurses were treating the wound, it hurt terribly, and I just wanted to see you."
Her voice was weak and delicate. Tears slid down her cheeks, soaking into the pillowcase.
The way she wept silently would make anyone's heart ache with pity.
Dante shot a displeased glare at Bella, who was standing nearby.
"How are you doing your job?"
Terrified by his freezing demeanor, Bella stammered, "Mr. Hayes... It's my fault. I had gone downstairs to get breakfast and wasn't with her."
"One person isn't enough," Dante said grimly. "I'll have them send someone else over."
He immediately called his assistant and ordered him to hire another premium caregiver.
Seeing how much he cared for her, the corners of Vivienne's lips curled into a pleased smile.
