Her soft, delicate body crashed into him without warning, causing Raymond to stiffen and freeze entirely in place.
He was still holding the breakfast containers, which were radiating heat. Terrified of burning her back or arms, he held his hands high in the air, not daring to lower them.
He couldn't bring himself to move an inch.
Quinn had buried her face against his broad, solid chest, her arms wrapping tightly around his lean waist. Her nose brushed against his shirt, catching the faint, clean scent of his soap.
The crushing anxiety and pressure of the past two days completely vanished, leaving her voice vibrant and full of joy.
"Did you know? I was so close to giving up. I was literally about to call Mrs. Hunt and tell her to cancel her order."
"But then out of nowhere, the fabric and the embroiderers were both sorted out! I swear the universe is looking out for me today!"
Her warm, soft form was pressed flush against him. Her sweet scent drifted into his senses, and right where their chests met, he could clearly feel the rapid, fluttery beating of her heart.
Raymond's Adam's apple bobbed silently, his dark eyes instantly deepening into a heavy, predatory gaze.
He didn't dare tighten his arms around her. He simply looked down, his low voice carrying a faint, barely detectable rasp.
"I'm glad it's fixed."
He paused for two seconds, deliberately softening his tone so he wouldn't sound intimidatingly hoarse.
"Are you done hugging?"
"If you're done, hurry up and eat your breakfast."
That single sentence snapped Quinn back to reality.
She belatedly realized just how intimately they were plastered together.
Their bodies were pressed flush against each other without a sliver of space between them. Through the thin fabric of his clothes, the man's scorching body heat was radiating directly into her.
It was so hot her ears instantly burned a bright crimson.
She quickly let go of his waist and stumbled a half-step back, lowering her eyes. Trying to play it cool, she awkwardly tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"Sorry, I just got a little too excited."
