"Don't you realize just how pathetic you look?"
Listening to Quinn's furious accusations, Dante's face twisted in pure, genuine shock.
He had absolutely no idea what she was talking about.
"What are you saying?"
His voice dropped, thick with genuine confusion, convinced she was inventing crimes just to hate him.
"What fabric? What embroiderers? Why would I touch any of that? I..."
Dante's words abruptly died in his throat.
Like a lightning bolt striking his skull, he suddenly remembered Vivienne walking into his office with soup two days ago. She had casually mentioned she was launching a new line of traditional dresses and needed a massive order of fabric from Highcrest.
She had also casually dropped something about needing master embroiderers.
Seeing him suddenly choke on his words, totally unable to defend himself, Quinn laughed.
"What's wrong? Finally tired of pretending?"
"In all of Riverton, who else has the power to simultaneously monopolize the city's premium silk supply and completely wipe out the schedules of every top-tier embroiderer?"
"Who else but you, the great dictator of The Hayes Group, could pull off something like that?"
Dante looked physically sick as he tried to process it. "Vivienne did say she needed Highcrest fabric and artisans... but she said it was for her new product line. I never thought she'd use it to target you."
Deep down, he was desperately trying to reject reality.
He could not comprehend that casually granting Vivienne a minor favor had nearly driven a stake through the heart of Quinn's entire business.
"Save it, Dante."
Looking at the bewildered man who still instinctively tried to rationalize Vivienne's actions, Quinn finally felt a profound sense of closure. She saw him exactly for what he was.
"If you love Vivienne that much, then stop standing in front of me acting like a lovesick fool begging for a second chance."
"You want me to fail. You want me to lose everything, so you can prove I am completely useless without you."
"You helped her crush my business because you wanted me completely destitute, forced to bow my head and beg for your mercy."
"You're out of your mind!"
"The only thing you've proven is that the last ten years of my life were a pathetic joke. A man like you never deserved an ounce of the love I gave you!"
