Put it in their contract? How was she supposed to word that?

Before Quinn could ask, he was already turning on his heel and striding toward his car.

She had to jog just to keep up with his long legs.

As the SUV pulled out of the underground lot and merged onto the main city avenue, Quinn leaned her head against the passenger window, squeezing her eyes shut as a wave of nausea hit.

Back in the garage, the adrenaline of being pinned against the wall had momentarily masked the alcohol.

But now, sitting in the enclosed space of the moving car, the wine was hitting her system hard. Her head felt like it was packed with lead, and a heavy, sickening tightness clamped down on her chest.

Though Raymond kept his eyes on the road, he was constantly checking her in the rearview mirror.

Seeing her face scrunch up in obvious distress, his voice dropped an octave.

"What's wrong? Are you sick?"

Quinn clutched her chest, unable to form a word.

Raymond immediately threw on his blinker and pulled over to the curb.

He jumped out, threw open her door, and stared at her pale face, his heart spiking with genuine panic.

"Is it your asthma?"

He frantically dug into his pocket for her inhaler, but she waved him off. She scrambled out of the car, stumbled to the edge of the sidewalk, and crouched down, dry heaving.

Her stomach violently churned, but since she had barely eaten anything at the dinner, there was nothing to throw up. After a minute of painful gagging, she stayed frozen, clutching her stomach.

"If you can't handle your liquor, don't try to play the hero."

A large, warm hand settled on her back. His words were sharp and scolding, but the rhythmic, gentle circles he rubbed between her shoulder blades betrayed him completely.

Under his soothing touch, the intense nausea finally began to ebb.

"Can you stand?" he asked.

Thinking she was fine, Quinn gave a weak nod. But the second she forced herself upright, the world violently spun off its axis.

She stumbled forward, crashing directly into Raymond's chest.
