"What are those?"
Quinn asked, clearly curious.
He walked straight over to her and flipped the folders open.
"I made a small addendum to our agreement."
"?"
Quinn had thought Raymond was just bluffing before, but he had actually drafted a formal contract.
Aside from the basic rules they had discussed, he had added one glaring new clause.
Within the next three years, if either party unilaterally terminated the agreement, they would have to pay the other fifty million dollars.
"Fifty million?" Quinn's eyes widened, wondering if the man even comprehended what that amount meant.
"Raymond, I agree with having a penalty for breaking the contract, but I need to point out that this number is completely absurd."
Raymond didn't bat an eye, his dark gaze locked onto hers. "Why is it absurd?"
"It's not..."
"Do you have that kind of money, or do I? Fifty million dollars! Even if I worked myself to the bone and didn't eat or drink for a hundred lifetimes, I could never make that much!"
Raymond nodded. "Right. So if you break the agreement, you'll just have to spend a few lifetimes paying me back."
Quinn stared at him, utterly dumbfounded by how seriously he was taking this.
"Too scared to sign?"
"Why would I be scared?"
Quinn grabbed a pen and quickly signed her name.
If he could stick with it for three years despite having a secret lover, what did she have to worry about?
Last night, when Dante had finally revealed the misunderstanding that had spanned years, watching him cry and beg for forgiveness had indeed affected her. It hurt.
But that didn't mean she still harbored any lingering feelings for him. She was only grieving the fact that the genuine love she had offered him since her youth—and the devotion that had anchored her heart for so many years—had ended in such a pathetic, laughable way.
