Over the next few days, Dante visited Quinn's studio twice, but she happened to be out both times, so they kept missing each other.

Quinn didn't want to see him anyway. The semi-finals for the fashion competition were about to begin.

Between shipping out orders and preparing for the contest, she was swamped every single day.

On the day of the semi-finals, Quinn arrived at the venue with Sarah Sterling and Sophie Sutton.

Having learned their lesson from last time, the three of them kept their competition pieces close at hand, not daring to be careless for even a second.

As soon as they walked in, they bumped into Vivienne Ambrose and her assistant.

"Oh, look, it's Aura Studio. Dragging those tacky vintage dresses to a competition again."

Vivienne's assistant, Maya, was just as obnoxious as ever.

"Quinn, who is this? Did she forget to brush her teeth this morning? Her mouth is foul!"

Sarah hated Maya's arrogant attitude and snapped back without hesitation.

"Exactly. Every socialite in Riverton is obsessed with our designs right now. If you're calling them tacky, are you insulting the taste of all those elite ladies?"

Maya clamped her mouth shut, terrified of actually offending the wealthy wives of the city.

Vivienne was wearing a beige linen dress. She still looked young and pretty, but even heavy foundation couldn't hide the dark circles under her eyes, and exhaustion clung to her posture.

Quinn threw her a fleeting glance. "Having trouble sleeping lately, Vivienne?"

Vivienne forced a smile to mask her disheveled state. "That's just from working late to prep for the competition."

"Is that so?" Quinn let out a mocking laugh. "I figured it was because your fabric supply got cut off.

"Remember when you used Dante's influence to intercept my shipment from Highcrest Textiles? Karma really is a boomerang, isn't it? Looks like it hit you right where it hurts!"

If she didn't feel the sting, she would never learn her lesson.

"You!"

Vivienne turned pale with rage.

Quinn turned to Sarah and Sophie. "Let's go. Don't let irrelevant people ruin our mood for the competition."
