Leo beamed as he recounted, "Because just now, Chloe whispered to me—Leo, your mom is so pretty and your dad is so handsome, you're so lucky!"
Both Quinn and Raymond froze in surprise. They hadn't expected that at all.
A second later, Leo lifted his bright, innocent eyes, looking straight at Raymond.
"Raymond, I didn't like my old dad at all. I want you to be my dad, is that okay?"
The childish request was pure and profoundly earnest, landing softly between them.
The air fell entirely silent for a moment.
Hugging the child, Quinn looked up at Raymond with an apologetic smile. "Kids say the craziest things, please don't take it..."
After all, this was extremely sudden. They had only just defined their relationship, and Quinn wasn't sure if Raymond was ready for that kind of commitment.
"Of course it's okay."
Under Quinn's astonished gaze, Raymond slowly dropped to one knee, bringing himself exactly to Leo's eye level.
His large, defined hand gently gripped the boy's small shoulder, his voice dropping to a serious, gravelly vow.
"Leo, from today onward, I am your dad."
"For the rest of my life."
He wanted to be the boy's father. It had absolutely nothing to do with blood, and everything to do with unconditional love and loyalty.
Leo's eyes instantly lit up, as if he had just been handed the most precious treasure in the world.
His tiny frame trembled before he threw his arms wide open and practically launched himself into Raymond's embrace, wrapping his little arms fiercely around the man's neck.
In a soft, breathless voice, he tested out the word:
"Dad!"
That single call was crisp, loud, and entirely devoid of hesitation.
It was Leo's wholehearted acceptance, the culmination of countless days of growing trust, and the ultimate proof that he had found his true home.
A fierce warmth surged in Raymond's chest as he wrapped his arms tightly around the small boy.
He pressed a kiss into the child's soft hair, whispering his solemn promise.
"From now on, Dad will always be right here with you. I'm going to protect you and your mom for the rest of my life."
Quinn stared blankly at the two of them, her vision blurring as a thick lump formed in her throat.
It was so incredibly beautiful. The fatherly love Leo had always craved, Raymond had just given him without hesitation.
