Shattered Vows: Call Me Auntie Now novel Chapter 402

Tara nodded, sank onto the couch, chugged a massive glass of water, and finally turned to Quinn.

"Quinn, I dug into that thing you asked me about."

"The guy I hired from Sentinel Security Group back then was absolutely not Raymond."

"The original bodyguard agreed to meet you at The Platinum Club, but his wife got into a minor fender bender on the way. He rushed off to handle it and never actually showed up."

Tara watched Quinn's reaction closely before dropping the next bomb. "And about that estate at Sapphire Lake... I had someone look into it. Before we even made an offer, someone had already pulled strings with the owner. The real sale price wasn't six and a half million dollars. It was thirty million."

Quinn had been relatively calm, but hearing that staggering number made her raise an eyebrow. "Thirty million?"

"Yeah. I was super suspicious at first. People have been trying to buy that property forever, and the owner refused to budge. Suddenly, I show up, and he practically hands it over for dirt cheap?"

Back then, she just assumed they had hit the jackpot. Now she realized the jackpot came with a massive hidden price tag.

"And get this—before we bought it, Dante was hounding the owner too. He offered twenty million, and the guy still said no."

Quinn remembered Dante bringing that up before, but she had assumed he was just spouting lies to chase Raymond away.

"I really wanted to figure out who the actual buyer was, but the former owner's lips are totally sealed. My contacts hit a massive brick wall."

Tara usually seemed a bit chaotic, but she was surprisingly sharp when it counted.

She had already pieced it together.

"Quinn, if Raymond wasn't actually a bodyguard, then his real background must be insane. Did he buy the Sapphire Lake house?"

Quinn lowered her gaze. After a long pause, she murmured, "Probably."
