"Where are we going now?"
"We'll drop our luggage at the bed and breakfast first, then I'll take you to meet someone."
"Who are we meeting?"
"A friend of Dad's."
To stay close to Quinn Yates, Raymond Moretti didn't book a hotel. Instead, he had Caleb Jenkins rent a room at The Cobblestone Courtyard, right across the street from her workspace.
It was the perfect distance. Through the carved window frames, he had a clear view of the studio's interior.
After dropping off their bags and before heading out, Raymond stood on the second-floor balcony, his gaze lingering on the studio for a long time.
Leo came to his side. This time, the little boy spotted Quinn diligently working on her embroidery in the courtyard not too far away.
"Wow, it's Mom!"
"Dad, you rented this place on purpose, didn't you? Just so you could watch Mom whenever you want."
Raymond didn't deny it, his dark eyes softening with affection.
"Do you like it here, Leo?"
"I love it!"
This way, whenever he missed his mom, he could just stand right here and look at her.
"Well, I'll be damned. The sun must have risen in the west today for the great Raymond Moretti to actually come visit me in Savannah. I..."
Luke Bennett's words died in his throat, swallowed by sheer shock.
"Holy shit, Ray, your son is this big already?!"
Little Leo looked up at Luke and greeted him politely. "Hello, Mr. Bennett!"
Luke wasn't married and obviously didn't have kids. Seeing such an adorable, soft-spoken little human instantly melted his heart.
He crouched down, his tall frame folding to the boy's eye level. "Hey there. What's your name?"
"I'm Leo," the boy answered crisply.
"Nice to meet you, Leo. Tell me what you want to eat, and I'll order it all for you!"
