But as he watched Leo run toward him, the coldness in his eyes slightly melted away.
"Ray!
"Let's play!"
Raymond lowered his gaze, not saying a word.
But the little guy was struggling to carry the haul, a few toys threatening to spill over onto the floor.
Raymond bent down and took most of the load off his hands. Then he turned and walked toward the sofa.
Leo happily trailed right behind him.
Quinn and Tara sat in the parlor as a maid poured Tara a glass of water.
Tara glanced toward the sofa in the living room. "You really got your money's worth with this bodyguard. Look how happy my godson is."
Quinn watched them too. Her son's dark eyes were sparkling like stars, and his bright, clear giggles filled the entire house.
Raymond sat beside him, his expression completely blank, but whenever the boy reached for a toy, he would silently hand it over.
She debated whether to tell Tara about her shotgun marriage to Raymond, but ultimately decided against it, asking about a much more pressing matter instead.

She wanted to open a branch for her studio, this time aiming for a peaceful, secluded location far away from the city's noise.
She remembered her mother telling her when she was little how beautiful the lotus ponds at Sapphire Lake were. Her mother had dreamed of opening a tailor shop there, making dresses every day.
So, she had asked Tara to scout the area for any properties on sale or for rent.
Soon enough, Tara had found a great spot.
It was a private three-story building with its own entrance and a spacious courtyard filled with old, beautiful trees and flowers.
Hearing Quinn ask about the house, Tara sighed and shook her head. "No luck."
Tara ruffled the boy's hair. "Godson, I'm heading out! I'll come see you again soon!"
The tips of the little boy's ears turned pink, and he nodded. "Bye, Tara."
He was still a bit shy, but it was a massive improvement from before.
Shortly after Tara left, a black Maybach pulled up outside Lunas Crest, lurking in the dark like a predator, deep and ruthless.
The car door opened, and Dante stepped out. Standing tall in his incredibly expensive suit, he walked toward the villa's front door with a heavy, grim expression.
The doorbell rang, and a maid peeked through the peephole.
Seeing Dante standing there, she didn't dare waste a second and yanked the door open.
Inside, Quinn heard the bell and walked out of the parlor with a smile, assuming Tara had forgotten something.
But the moment she recognized the figure standing in the foyer, the smile on her face instantly vanished...
